Today I am grateful for the rain we’ve had for the last couple of days, which has cooled everything down, and watered the garden. It also means that Walter-cat is happy to snuggle in with me for warmth!
I’m grateful for the fresh aubergines, courgettes, tomatoes, cucumbers, and strawberries that the gardener has just picked and left for us at our current house sit. It’s such a treat to enjoy homegrown produce straight from the garden. I’m also very grateful for the swimming pool, which has been keeping us cool during this heatwave!
Today, we’re grateful that Westjet 
came to terms with its cabin crew. We’re scheduled to fly transatlantic tomorrow 
. Gulp, all looks good. But certainly some recent uncertainties and backup planning.
Waking up. It’s all downhill if you don’t wake up.
Grateful for our two lovely cats and the wonderful sitters that have cared for them allowing us to travel with total peace of mind. 
Grateful to be able to help a dog owner out. She broke her hand when a horse stood on it. Can’t use it now at all - no driving for a month, poor thing and only recently moved to the area and so no friends nearby to help her out. Can’t tie her laces on her shoes, can’t put the collar on the dog and can’t walk him safely one handedly.
Glad to be able to step in and help as she’s a short bus ride away on my free bus pass. Best bit? Not paying THS £10.00 to do this act of kindness lol
Grateful for all the firefighters who are battling wildfires in our region, the Pacific Northwest in the U.S. More are coming from other parts of the country to help.
In the state next to us, hundreds of homes have burned and tens of thousands of people have evacuated. I know someone whose home came within 200 yards of being burned.
Meanwhile, in our state, more than 2 million acres have burned and air quality is terrible. At home, we’re lucky to have central air to keep us comfortable and to have air purifiers throughout the house.
The weather patterns are supposed to be turning soon, which should help. Hoping that actually happens.
The closest evacuation warnings have gone out 45 minutes’ drive from us. We’re always prepared, with go bags for us and our dog, our cars and RV gassed up, in case. Part of picking our home included having multiple escape routes to drive away, if needed.
Grateful to wake to overcast skies and a touch of rain. Hoping that those extend to firefighters across large swathes of our region, who’ve been battling wildfires for weeks.
It’s been mostly hot and dry, which has made their job much harder. We’re at home, comfortable and safe, while they aren’t. And their families must be so worried about them.
Grateful because in an hour I will be watching the solar eclipse from a balcony at a house sit in Portugal.

@Jenny That is wonderful! I went to see Roxette live last summer in Sweden (and yes, I was pet sitting there too). There is something so special about seeing iconic musicians who have been active for ages and still come to sing for new fans and old.
