Currently binge watching After Life by Ricky Gervais - I watched it first time around twice! That was 2 years ago. Itās profound-funny-poignant-existential-shocking-honest.
5* and a good binge of 3 series.
Itās all about sports/music
1 The Eurosā¦.now finished
2. Glastonburyā¦ now finished
3. The Tour de Franceā¦. ongoing
4. The Golfā¦ ongoing
5. The Olympics to look forward to!
We have just finished watching The Hour on Netflix and thoroughly enjoyed.
It is a behind-the-scenes drama and espionage thriller in Cold War-era England that centres on a journalist, a producer, and an anchorman for an investigative news programme.
Got a deal to subscribe to MHZchoice. Many international series. Just binged 4 seasons of Berlin Babylon (German) - part mystery, part police procedural, part soap opera decadent.
Just started The War is Over (Italian). Drama with lots of great child actors! Mostly a true story adapted from a book by Israeli Aharon Meged.
If you are in the Uk I highly recommend this sitcom currently showing on ITVX
'Changing āEndsā is a comedy series based on the life of comedian Alan Carr growing up in the 80ās
Oliver Savell who plays the young Alan is hilarious - I really hope he wins awards for his performance, Heās only 14 and totally steals the show with his performance and comedy timing
Lots of nostalgic nods to the 80ās too!
There are two series, each with six, half hour episodes- Donāt miss it!
Any sitters in the UK watching TV with adverts (im almost all caught up on Macdonald & Dodds - excellent shots of beautiful Bsth)ā¦ have you noticed the Go Compare ad with the cat on the robot vaccuum cleaner?
My question isā¦ will the cat be taken to a cattery, or are they waiting for the THS sitter to arrive before they go on holiday?
I watched all 3 of the Morse series - Inspector Morse, Inspector Lewis, and Endeavour.
And I watched all of the various versions of Prime Suspect with Helen Mirren.
And just discover Prime Suspect: Tennison - the āoriginā story. Enjoying it - but only 6 episodes or about 45 minutes each.
I have been more aware recently to look for Ā«localĀ» movies and series. Streaming services like Netflix and such can have different rights in different countries, so one can be able to see some movies in some countries - and they also make different content in different countries.
A series I have seen different versions of in different countries is Ā«Zero starsĀ» / Ā«Null stjernerĀ». The basis is that two hosts go to different countries and visit places that has gotten zero stars on Tripadvisor. It is hilarious, and you get to experience places, sights and accommodation that you would probably never visit. And some of them you might Even want to visit!
Sitting a home with Acorn (which I donāt have so catching up on English/Australian/NZ shows). Just binged on The Heart Guy or Doctor Doctor in Australia. Enjoyed it but it is a bit of a classy soap opera ala Downtown Abbey or Upstairs, Downstairs.
Went to the theatre to see My Penguin Friend (just opened in theatres). Good story based on real life and wonderful photography.
But I do really like penguins!
I wonāt give away the ending.
Reminded me a bit of My Octopus Teacher (on Netflix in the US), but more drama! (My Penguin Friend | Official Website | August 16 2024 and Trailer on youtube - https://youtu.be/BE0kfDCiod0
