What are you watching?

Spent the 95 degree F Saturday afterrnoon seeing Spike Lee’s Highest 2 Lowest. I thought it was a great film - good script and plot (although not original - adapted from Kurosawa’s High & Low). Great performances by Denzel Washington and Jeffrey Wright; wonderful use of New York City for locations visual and action; good music. With all the action - probably best on the big screen.

Another 95 degree day on the Gulf coast so went to another movie - bargain matinee for US$5. Nobody 2 is very violent, but almost in a cartoon way - the violence is too over the top to be real!

We just finished the 1st episode of Murderbot, starring Alexander Skarsgard. We enjoyed it and will continue with the series. Patiently awaiting Season 5 of Slow Horses! Favourite series in a very long while.

Alone on Netflix. Survival shows are awesome.

I am currently watching Hostage on Netflix.

When the British prime minister’s husband is kidnapped and the French president starts receiving threats, both leaders must face an impossible choice.

Just watched new/final Downton Abbey - The Grande Finale. Not great, but enjoyable. Brings many of the stories to a close (well, they could do another taking it WW2). Yes its a soap opera and yes it really is Upstairs, Downstairs (for those of you old enough to remember) in countryside Yorkshire instead of London.
What was interesting - I usually see movies in the afternoon and they there are only 2 or 3 people in the theater. For a noon, Fri screening, there were probably a 2 dozen people so I guess the DA franchise is a going concern.

With the recent deaths of Robert Redford and Diane Keaton, I realized that I had never seen some of their most noted movies so I am attempting to remedy this.
So far I have watched Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Annie Hall. Very enjoyable. Up next are The Way We Were and The Great Gatsby.

I have started watch the crime Drama “Borderline”

A detective from Northern Ireland and one from Republic Ireland thrown together to solve serious crimes on their border lands. They don’t get on.

It’s gripping stuff with some great lines.

Apple tv is starting to become more consistent in quality I think.

Id say Shrinking is even better than Ted Lasso.

Tin Star on Sky is very good as well

Jenny, ive only just seen this post!

For all Killing Eve fans, she’s not dead!

Luke Jennings, the man who wrote the Villanelle novellas was rather upset at Villanelle being killed off so has written some more books featuring both ladies. If you Google him, you will find more adventures!

I recently watched two series on Netflix that I really enjoyed. The first was The Gentlemen and the second was Ripley. Both are based on movies but these series are so much better. Enjoy :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @SEK

I thoroughly enjoyed Shrinking too but I’m tied between which I preferred more as Ted Lasso was an equally addictive series for me!

Hi Sam,

I loved Ted Lasso, but I guess im anticipating a “jumping the shark” forthcoming series, which may lose it points. Sometimes good shows shouldn’t be dragged out and just finish on a high!

Try Blue Lights if you like a bit of Norn Irish police drama. Good soundtrack and you may even want to Google Fifteens if you aren’t familiar with them already!

I will take a look at both. One thing about pet sitting, it gives me free time to watch stuff I never used to have time for.
