What have you left behind after a sit?

Those tags don’t give you much privacy, because as soon as you click on one of the buttons that says send an email or send a text, your information is revealed. They will get your phone number or email address if they try and contact you, so you might as well just put a sticker with your name and phone number on it :slightly_smiling_face:

That said, I do have a lot of tile tags and I think they are awesome! I just don’t see the advantage of using their proprietary stickers.

Tossed “half eaten ice cream “ no such thing! :flushed:

The ability to update info is the key thing. So say I’m going to one country vs. another, I can update with the hotel info. If I get a local SIM card, I can change the info on the fly, etc. I put the stickers in discreet locations. YMMV.

Ah, ok. I use my email and that has always been enough to get my stuff back. (If I don’t have a tile tracker on it)

I’m like a crow, I’m always finding stuff… and I’m shocked at how few things I find don’t have any “return to owner” contact info!

I’m most worried about losing stuff while traveling, because it would be harder to replace quickly, so I like to put my travel contact info. (But the good thing with these tags is you can change the info back when you’re at home, for instance.)

Before I started using Apple AirTags and these stickers, I used labels from a label maker.

I still use such labels for stuff I can’t put a QR sticker on. Like the MacBook charging cable I bought for trips cost $49, plus tax, which is steep. I’d rather get that back if lost than buy another. I put a label around the tiny plug.

About finding things: I’ve tended to find phones and wallets, which I hope have enough info for the owners to be found. I turn them into the restaurant or store I find them in, because I think the owners will return or check there. I once found a resume in an airplane seat pocket, which I sent back to whom it was addressed to. I hope the candidate got the job.

About 4 weeks after finishing a sit, the HO sent a message to say she had found my husband’s pyjamas in the tumble dryer.
I quickly replied that they weren’t ours because he doesn’t wear pyjamas and we don’t use tumble dryers (prefer to natural dry stuff).
Another few weeks pass and my husband asks where the new loungewear he bought for the sit/trip is. Lightbulb moment! They weren’t pyjamas (I was imagining traditional M&S style things). I sent a stamped post bag and the HO returned them for us.
Still don’t understand how they got in the tumble dryer though :woman_shrugging:t3:

My heart… every time. I always fall for the animals I look after.

As a HO, my last sitters left behind:

  • 1 blanket
  • 1 towel
  • 2 umbrellas
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • 1 sweater
    plus various foods and toiletries.

I asked them if they wanted any of it boxing up and sending on to them but they declined. I understand leaving food and toiletries behind if you’re travelling and don’t want to carry them but the other items seemed more unusual to abandon.

I left behind my heart  missing the fur babies :paw_prints::paw_prints:
