What Is Your Opinion On Repeat Sits, Do You Accept?

I’ve been invited back, but after one repeat sit, I decided that they’re not for me. I prefer variety from sitting. So many places to experience, so little time. If there ends up being a spectacular location and pet(s), I’ll reconsider. But it’s hard to imagine such a sit for me.

As for HOs, I enjoy meeting great ones, but friendships from sitting aren’t my priority. The kind of work I do already lets me meet plenty of amazing people around the world.

We are actively developing a network of repeat sits in cool places -Paris-London-Brussels-Brisbane Etc so we can keep going back to destinations we love. We contact HO to let them know when we are heading their way and quite often they then take the opportunity to have an unplanned holiday. Do I feel guilty about being a preferred sitter? Not one bit. We’ve earned the trust these HO are more than happy to put in usand they can take their break with total peace of mind because they know we’ll do an excellent job of taking care of their home and pets.

I’ve been asked to do a repeat sit a few times but like others have said there’s only a few I’d sit again for. Not because they were bad HO’s but just so much of the world to explore. I’ve agreed to do a second sit a year on from my first sit for an amazing couple, with an amazing home, in a great location, easy to look after cats and they treated me like their son!
I would have done a second sit for a similar couple I recently sat for but unfortunately I was already committed to other sits.

Sounds like you’ve got some amazing regular gigs there in some pretty fantastic locations!

I feel very fortunate myself to have regulars in some of my favourite places both at home and abroad.

Whilst I was once on a sit in the city of Reykjavik, I happened to get chatting to a random stranger one day in a shop. As it turned out, she mentioned to me that her cat sitter had just cancelled on her. When she found out I do pet sitting, she then asked me if I could help and fortunately for both of us, I was able to do her dates.

It’s brilliant when you end up making new pet sitting connections unexpectedly that turn into fantastic repeat experiences!

@Chatsetchiens Yep. Unfortunately we just had to turn down 2 weeks in Paris as our Shengen days are almost up. But we’ll be on their radar for next summer.

I’ve gotten these requests many times, but am finally in a geographical position to accept! I’ll be doing my first repeat sit this month. I think it’s absolutely fine as both HOs and sitters prefer it, of course.

In fact I’m at a point in my experience with this site where I’d prefer to only do repeat sits for a while, as I’m a bit burnt out on the risk of new HOs.

I do lots of repeat sits. Still do one for my very first HO, from 11 years ago. She’s not a member any more, do it as a private sit. You know what to expect with repeats.

It’s nice to be asked, but I rarely accept such invitations, preferring new experiences. Sits might be perfectly lovely, but it takes something special for me to repeat.

Yes, all the time. I’ve done one favorite one 8 times.

We do exactly the same thing. It’s like a second home to us and we feel really appreciated.

Most of my sits I would not repeat. Nothing wrong with them as such, more of a BTDT-situation.

Its an old thread. But yes, we accept return sits. If it fits our diary and we loved the sit, the home, the animals and the owners, we would defentely feel honoured and accept. Actually we have done so over 15+ years with long standing friendships. We saw kids grow up, dogs as puppies and bereavement of owners when the dogs died and we felt at a loss too. We had many returns sits not only through the platform but as friends.

Yes, I love doing them. I have 3 people who I do repeat sits for.

One is a dog about 15 miles away from me, who I have really gelled with, and an owner who really appreciates me. I take the dog to my regular pub quizzes!

One is a trio of dogs and a parrot.

The other is 35 miles away, I finished my 3rd sit with him today and am back there in 13 days time for my 4th sit. His owner moved to this area in November and didn’t know anybody, I was his first sitter. I LOVE this particular dog so much!!!

Pub quiz??? Is that like “trivia night”?

Fun!

We love repeat sits! So much easier!

exactly that, but not all trivia, some of it is actual knowledge, Geography, History, anagrams, etc

Our first THS sit was about four years ago and we loved it and the cat so much that we’ve become the owner’s first call about ten times. We consider her to be our “GrandCat” and enjoy the city. We have a few other “regulars” and just like the HOs love knowing what we are getting into. There are even a couple where we have “moved house” with the family and taken over in a new location.

When you have found the right sitter or HO it makes sense to be satisfied.

We’ve just completed a third-time sit and would be happy to return yet again. We love the pet and the location and the hosts are great, so why not?

It’s always easier to apply for a sit we’ve already happily completed, since the HOs know exactly what to expect, and so do we. That said, we’ll only return to our absolute favourite areas, since when we’ve experienced a location for a good while, that’s usually enough. There are a few sits which we’d have no hesitation in returning to, repeatedly.
