Wow, nice day-dreaming topic. Because of Covid and then family reasons, we’ve been tied to the UK almost since we started house sitting. We’d just love to get to mainland Europe one day…
The other thing would be a horse-sit - with riding. We’ve sat several horses who couldn’t be ridden for various reasons. I long to be looking along a curved neck and between a pair of ears again!
@woowoo and anyone else who has a creatively converted home on their wish list .
There is a current listing for a stay in a converted Oast * house in U.K. ( search Kent - dog sit ) it’s worth a look . Got a hot tub too !
*For those that don’t know an Oast House is a building designed for drying hops as part of the brewing process.
There’s also a converted brewery ( Dorset )
and an old school ( Norfolk )currently listed.
Alpacas are on my wish list too … and having seen some of @Samox24 photos tortoises too !
I’ve had two sits so far with alpacas, they’re very easy to look after and good fun. One was in Tauranga, New Zealand the other near Canterbury, England. Highly recommend!
I’ve seen several thatched properties in U.K. currently listing
Search :Dorset & New Forest.
Where was the converted post office you stayed in ?
@Debbie … Not just a thatched cottage in the Cotswolds but two adorable Dachshunds and an AGA
@Debbie @IHeartAnimals and anyone else looking to stay on a houseboat .
Amazing houseboat on Thames currently looking for a sitter ( Kingston on Thames )taking care of a dog . They are looking for a last minute sitter . Wish I was available
@Silversitters I wish we were available too! If only those dates were a weekend!
@Silversitters it was in Derbyshire and a combination of 2 mill workers houses and a Post Office. There was a post box set into the wall of the house and an old safe built into the wall inside one of the rooms.
@Debbie - thank you I’ll keep an eye out for that one .
We’ve cared for pigs who live mostly on a common. We’d be out with the dogs, far from the house, come round a corner - and there would be one of the pigs! The youngest liked having his tummy rubbed, and my partner was more than happy to oblige. When we returned a year later that pig saw my partner, came straight over, went weak at the knees and sank to the ground, rolled onto his side and lifted a foreleg, like a dog might!
Last summer we did a lovely sit in a converted Post Office in Ecchinswell, a charming village in South East England. 2 gorgeous dogs, 2 barn cats and 8 chickens! The chickens were forever flying out of their enclosure and we often had to round them up from neighbouring gardens!
@Silversitters thank you. I’ll go save it to my favorites
Here you go @Silversitters. Orange, Central West
@Silverfox I am in love with this face…I WANT TO DO A SIT for this cutie!
@Silversitters We have our eye on a houseboat listing in Sausalito, CA which comes up from time to time, I’m hoping our dates will align soon!
@Silverfox OMG! That face, soooo cute and as @Debbie-L said, we would love to sit for this cutie too!
