What made you smile today?

Hello everyone!

A nice simple question for you…

What made you smile today?

Maybe you ate a really good meal, or the cat you’re looking after did something funny, or your sitter did something particularly considerate before leaving… share it with us in the replies!

Jenny :slightly_smiling_face:

The Home Owner admits she’s missing the dogs very badly.

Sometimes a life of luxury is hard to accept lying down.

Don’t you just love it when you leave the master leather armchair empty and your dog jumps in to warm it up! How considerate is that? Game of Thrones, anyone?

So the Home Owners have gone abroad to celebrate a birthday and their wedding anniversary.” Lots to celebrate ,”

I commented.
Their reply?
“Thanks. We can enjoy even more knowing our fur babies and home are in your capable hands. “
It’s great to be appreciated.

This guy, who woke me up with a very urgent question:

These two would make good bookends. Three in a chair!

I went to Port Stephens Koala Sanctuary and Hospital in Australia. 2nd visit fantastic place.

I’m smiling because my stray cat friend (Vivi) came to visit, and stayed for hours on the pillow on the window sill! Usually he eats his food and leaves pretty quickly, but he got comfy and had a little nap today, while my Walter-cat napped on my bed.

Vivi was also desperate for loves today, usually he likes a hesitant ear scritch but he went crazy for a full on bunch of love today.

One step closer to gaining his trust and one day getting him to a vet to scan for a microchip and get a health check.

What a gorgeous kitty! So happy he’s coming along :two_hearts::paw_prints:

He’s such a lovely boy @MerryPuppins - I can’t help but feel he was someone’s baby at one time. He’s so affectionate now he knows he can trust me! Hopefully I can get him checked out and scanned eventually

My husband, our dog and I have started a road trip toward iconic Yellowstone National Park (where the legendary Old Faithful geyser is, for example) and other sights. Meanwhile, we’ve been listening to audiobooks about settlers who braved the Oregon Trail in wagon trains in the 1800s. They risked their lives to settle the country as it expanded across the continent.

Serendipitously yesterday, we came across Massacre Rocks State Park in the state of Idaho, where some settlers were killed by Native Americans, and Register Rock, where settlers would carve their names en route to the West.

I love history and have a great appreciation for folks who endure(d) hardships in pursuit of better lives. And it happens that the audiobooks we’ve been listening to mention Register Rock, the Raft River and other locations that we’ve been serendipitously encountering, making the history even more real and enriching to us.

Yesterday, we were lucky to have Register Rock to ourselves, as we picnicked next to it. Only as we were leaving did other visitors turn up.

The rock is now under shelter, as a protective measure. And there are picnic tables thoughtfully provided.

Also enjoyed fall colors as we picnicked.

That’s heart-swelling, @Jenny. So happy for you and Vivi about the progress you’re making together.

One Home Owner I revisited (to see the lovely dog really!) but also collect some things I left as I ran out of time, adding in an extra dog walk when they were back but jet lagged on the morning I left.
She said , “oh I’ve got guests coming and I haven’t dusted for a month! “
“ That’s why I house hop - to a void the dust settling! “
I look at house names as I walk the charges in my care. I’ve come across some lovely ones:
The Dreams; The Oasis; The Refuge; but my funniest was this one- Casa de Los Nutters.

So we’ve had two walks today because tomorrow it’s another rain alert with forecast for torrential rain and flooding..
These two seem to be a little worn out? Is it the stress?
Nothing is as tired as dog tired!
