What main photo is best for sitters?

Hiya Sitters! I am wondering what photo YOU want to see on a listing to click it or consider opening it.

We live 15 miles to the Outer Banks beaches, we are on a golf course. Do you like a whole house image, or interior shot of living area or your guest room? Or prefer a local site of interest. I mean, I don’t want to post a lighthouse as that’s not our home— but something fun to visit in the area. I have a collage of the pets and other things to maximize the photos allowed.

I try to show the house and pets with our BEST PHOTO forward… thanks for your time!

Welcome @innkeeperva
I’d lead with the photo of your adorable cat. Then photo’s of your kitchen, living area, sitters bedroom and sitters bathroom. Good luck.

I vote for the kitty.

I like seeing a pic of the whole house, followed by different rooms in the house and then the pet(s).

I might be tempted by the pool. Or by the bedroom, depending on the season.

Cat sits are attractive to many, but I would not choose based on a picture of the cat.

I agree @Globetrotter

Your cat is adorable, but there are a lot of adorable cat ads, whereas your house exterior and pool make you unique to other sits so I would have one of those as your main image. The pool would be best, but perhaps from a different angle so those that don’t play golf don’t get put off by it. You can always try it, and see which gets the best results.

I also agree. I think the exterior is enticing, and looking through the pics gives a tour of the house. The cat is lovely, but I believe an exterior pic of the house will garner more attention as a main photo, as sitters want to know where they’ll be staying.

The photo of the kitty is cute, but I’d be drawn to the sit by the one of the sitter’s bedroom. If i were a HO I’d not make the pool photo the main one - this is based on earlier posts by HOs who got the impression that the sitter was more attracted to the sit by the pool than the pet care.

I don’t sit cats, only dogs, so for us it’s most important to see the dog. Ideally in front of the house from outside to see the house in full.

What attracts me is a whole house pic to start.
The way the listings are viewed / my filters, I know what kind of pet you have, I know what bedrooms may look like, but a whole house pic tells me so much more.

A whole house pic lets me know it’s a house vs apartment building. It shows how urban, the size of the house, the yard I might care for, the view I might have.

After that, kitchen is important for my husband and I. Then the bed and bath options are essential.
Only after that would I be tempted by a super cute pet pic.
It sounds superficial, but it’s what works for us!

I vote for the kitty. I apply to sits mostly based on the attraction I feel for the pets and yours just looks adorable. I would then get to see the rest of the pictures and read the info. But that picture would melt my heart straight away and I think that goes for a lot of cat lovers.

I would go for either the pool or the house pic first.

For sure the kitty! So cute.

The house or pool pic (depending on time of year) would grab my attention, then interior pics (rooms sitters would use), then pets.

Sitters can select pets, area, dates and duration using the search function, so then it’s down to the property. We then check out pet pics and read the listing details if we want to know more.

I would go for the house photo as the first photo. There will be symbol (-s) for the pets next to the first photo, and then I would be curious of the pets.

I always love to see the pet first :paw_prints:

The exterior of the house gets my vote as I like to see where I would be staying. You have great photos @innkeeperva and your cat looks a cutie.

I’m very tempted by pools! I think it would be great if we could have a search filter for pools

It just goes to show that you can’t please all the people all of the time.
Listings are just as individual as all the sitters out there.
Find what works for you and go with it.
Happy hunting!
