Hello! I don’t speak English well, sorry if this topic already exists in other posts, I haven’t found it.
It happens that we applied to take care of some dogs and their house, the owner selected us. But yesterday the owner told us that he changed house and his new house is in another area (it’s all rural area).
My question is if the change should be reported on the THS website or if there is a specific procedure, if the owner should make any changes in the application. We are still interested in taking care of pets but we would like to be calm both legally and within the THS website.
Thank you for your answers.
Have you seen photos of the new property and been informed about the area?
It’s rather a bizarre thing to do, to list a sit then go to live in a different area and expect the confirmed sitter to accept those changes. I think I’d ask the pet parents to cancel the existing sit agreement and re-list the new property, then send you an invitation to apply. This will give you some breathing space to ensure you still want to continue, and will provide evidence of where the sit is located and what to expect in terms of accommodation.
Good luck with it!
We have the same issue. The owner didn’t move far, but only told us when we contacted her to ask a question.
She did give us the option to opt out if we wanted, which we won’t, but like you, it would be interesting to see where THS stands with that.
Interesting! Thank you for sharing this @Facundo.
To me, the only correct response is to advise a sitter of the change as soon as known and given opportunity to opt out as it’s the sitter who decides if a substantial alteration to the agreement or as the suggestion @Happypets listed.
If both sides still happy with the circumstances/location no foul… but a sitter should always be informed- that shouldn’t be a last minute “surprise!”
Welcome @Facundo
I’d ask for full details of the HO’s new place including photo’s and new address. You are within your rights to contact the HO and THS support and cancel the sit as the HO has fundamentally changed the listing you applied from.
Listings should be accurate -
Hello @Facundo and welcome to forum!
Even though you say you still want to do it, I’d suggest that @Els and @Facundo say that you might still be interested, but would need updated photos and new adress. This is for the benefit of both of you, as the photos are important part of your agreement. The photos are the documentation on both what you should expect of the home and also the documentation on what you are supposed to deliver end sit - what you will be measured on in the review the host will give you. It is important to the host that you have an accurate impression because the sitter has a right to leave if the sit is misrepresented.
If someone moves I might still be interested, but I would still need to know where the home is and what it looks like. If for nothing else, to know the basis of the review they will give me.
@Garfield yes we did of course. We saw pics ans got the new address before reconfirming.
That’s great. Good advice to @Facundo
I’d suggest it’s not sufficient to simply see pics of the new home, rather that the listing should be revised to show them. If you find on arrival that things do not reflect the condition you expect, you won’t have a leg to stand on if you cannot prove inaccuracy of listing.
As @Silversitters says:
I agree with @Happypets, the listing should be updated and the confirmed sit should reflect all relevant changes. If one of the categories of listing (which are compulsory) is altered this should be reflected on THS platform and so should the sittter’s agreement to the changes.
lMHO, this is similar to date alterations. When the owner alters the dates on the platform, the sitter has the option of confirming or withdrawing. If they make a private agreement without it being registered, it’s similar to a sit outside the platform.
Hello everyone!
I really appreciate your opinions. They help me to know how to proceed. I think the logical thing to do would be to reapply for a new offer where the new photos, new conditions and postal address are included. As several people say in their answers: it is a new contract between the caretaker and the owners.
I will tell you how this experience continues.
Greetings and have a nice day.
