It’s nearly Halloween (or your regional variant )!
We’re getting into the spirit and want to hear your spookiest pet-related stories.
Has your cat ever stared into the darkness like they’ve seen a ghost? Or has a dog you were sitting with suddenly started barking at… nothing?!
Whether it’s funny, creepy, or just plain mysterious, please share your story with us below! (as always, bonus points for spooky pet photos, even if it’s just a cute costume!)
I spooked myself with this sequence of photos taken whilst watching TV with the pets on a house-sit - no idea what the white apparition that suddenly appeared was!
Not on a sit, but hanging out at a friend’s house - a 1920s terrace in the outskirts of London - as evening drew in. The USP of their place was that they had a fully-functioning 1960s jukebox in the living-room. Sitting there alone while my friends went off to start dinner, I was startled to see a small tortie-and-white cat run silently along the top of the sofa, over the jukebox and out of the door, towards the kitchen. I was surprised because there was no cat-flap, cat food or anything remotely feline, anywhere in the house. Over dinner, I asked what their cat was called.
“We don’t have a cat.”
“Of course you do! I saw her about an hour ago. In the living-room.”
“Ohhhh! That’s Jukey. We call her that because she always dashes over the jukebox. She’s our little ghost cat.”
Artifact due to glare from the laptop screen and probably a less than perfectly clean cellphone camera lens. Note the brightness change on the monitor at the time the distortion occurred.
That’s a more reasonable possibility than it being a message from another dimension being delivered by a ghost that resembles a giant size gummy worm.
No real story except I’m getting carried away creating “spooky” Halloween images with my current sit and the two spookiest cats known, Peanut and Puka (a repeat sit). Here they are in multiple scenarios.
