I wouldn’t dream of expecting a sitter to pay any utilities (I’m shocked anyone would). We have a fairly new, modern home–about 10 years old with heated floors and it’s very efficient, quite comfortable in winter and easy to maintain. Last year we stayed home but previous years we have had a neighbor stop in. I started doing foster care for the Humane Society and of course fell in love with them so now have 3 cats. We’ve experimented taking them with us. Our ‘wild child’ is a hunter and he’s just too high energy to keep cooped in an RV that long. We’ve had neighbors come in the past but it’s not practical for a lengthy stay.
