Who's on a house sit now? How's it going?

What a cutie patootie :heart::heart:

I’m currently on a local sit ( home in San Francisco) I typically don’t take invites for local sits, but this was 2 months and I’d decided to stay home for the summer so I’d be close to my chiropractor. Anyway, the kitty Nova is cute, however her Mom had informed me early on that she had a weird aggressive outburst a few months prior. After consulting with a behaviorist the biggest thing was more playtime. I also feel that cat’s who’s sensitive and intuitive nature’s will pick up when pawrent is going through changes i.e… like being gone for 2 months they can sense that. Anyway, she’s now on medication to help calm, and happily takes, even begs for the “special treat” hidden inside a pill pocket. I’ve made sure to implement more play time and she’s been fine since I’ve arrived. She’s quite dog-like and also begs for treats standing up and meowing rather loudly, cute. Her name is Nova, but I’ve nicknamed her Queen Novalita empress of snacks. 5 more weeks to go in a typical foggy, misty San francisco summer.

Third photo I made for her Mom as the empress of snacks.

Definitely not the world’s best picture, but I was at the kitchen window when I saw this wild turkey family on the property and I ran out to snap the photo. We’ve also seen deer, beaver, rabbits, and lots of hummingbirds that come to the feeder just outside the screened back porch.

We are couple of city slickers enjoying a week in the beautiful Hudson Valley, caring for a very low maintenance cat.

About 2 weeks in Chantilly, VA (which is just south of Dulles Airport for Washington, DC). Vivi is a 10 year old ragdoll who is very undemanding but appreciates any attention I give her.

Very comfortable and a pretty easy sit - there is an automated litter box - I just need to remove the plastic big once a week. Vivi gets some meds but mixed in her food and she eats up.
Interesting area - the home sits between the approach paths for Dulles Airport’s 2 N/S runways but far enough away that the planes are high enough not to hear them and windows are closed with AC. (Had a sit in Putney, London a few years ago that was similarly situated under the approach paths to LHR but it was a bit noisier because windows were open.)
Lots of defense contractor offices in the area and the HQ of the National Reconnaissance Office - the gov agency that runs spy satellites and spy planes. https://www.nro.gov - and a declassified history also > About NRO > history.
The Udvar-Hazy Center of the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum is nearby. An enormous museum filled with airplanes, satellites, and much more. Space Shuttle Discovery is here, an AF Concorde, lots of military planes. (Probably 50% military, 30% space, and 20% commercial and general aviation.) Steven F. We are on a 5 week sit in Perth, Western Australia and our view is just to die for! Two gorgeous fluffy doggies to love and care for and some of the nicest home owners we have come across. It’s these ones that make it all worthwhile :purple_heart:

@Jjay Wish I’d had a view like that in Perth! But with recent news stories about waterside homes washing away in the US, not sure.

Meant to message in this post a good few days ago, but wow, time flies on a sit!

After months of waiting, thrilled to be on our first sit. I did think of posting a joking “Have we been duped?”, but husband quite rightly thought better of it. The dupe in question? The dog we are sitting looks more like a fox. Isn’t she gorgeous?

Quite appropriately, she is watching out for rabbits in that pic!

And here she is while relaxing - which she does a lot of  :

This little senior girl and I are hanging out. She’s deaf, spry and intensely food motivated.

Her humans were gracious and I enjoyed getting to know them over dinner and while I overnighted and overlapped till they left.

They were new to THS when I met them months ago via video. In the interim, they then had such a horrible first sitter (and deceitful human) that she was booted off the platform. Apparently THS offered them their money back, but they said they wanted to go forward with our sit, which we’d previously booked.

When they left for the airport today, they said they felt happy to be leaving their dog in good hands, because she’s their priority. So glad they stuck with THS. Even had I not sat for them, they’re nice folks and their dog deserves to be well taken care of.

Plus, their home is beautiful, clean, near loads of amenities. Their sit is exactly as described, in a nice neighborhood. And they sent me a robust welcome guide well before our sit.

It’s so unfortunate that people can do all the right things and still end up with the first terrible sitter they had.

She looks lovely and cuddly!
I’m glad they decided to honor their commitment with you and had the opportunity of having a good experience in THS. It was just bad luck and I am sure you have already shared all your knowledge and strategies so that they can perhaps see red flags in future.
Where is the sit?
