Who's on a house sit now? How's it going?

First day of the 2nd sit of a 6 week string of UK sits. I’m in Longdon, between Upton-on-Severn and Tewkesbury with 2 dogs, 2 cats and about 2 dozen hens (3 eggs today that I found, but 1 was broken).

Visited Tewkesbury Abbey and a delightful Tewkesbury Museum. Highlight were a room about the Battle of Tewkesbury, a decisive battle in the War of the Roses and a room of mechanical fair attractions. Tewkesbury has a big fair.

The house is Tudor and maybe 400 or more years old. There is hot water and heat, lots of electricity, but it is quirky, slanted floors, some creaks and groans. William uses TH a lot for short sits as he works part week in London - folks in the UK might want to watch for his sits.

Lovely pets to look after @toml and a wonderful character property. I must keep an eye out for it for future visits to England! Did a sit near Tewkesbury a few years ago and listened to a young lad practising on the organ in Tewkesbury Abbey for his upcoming exams. Was just beautiful.

@toml you are not very far away from where we live in Cheltenham. However we are on a sit in Bristol until Sunday. Otherwise we could have met up. I enjoyed the photos of the museum in Tewkesbury, we have never visited it, despite living nearby.

We just arrived in Romford, UK to care for Lilly & Fluffy - Upstairs / downstairs

So cute!!!

Sit #3 of the sequence. Technically started 3rd sit of my 6 weeks in the UK yesterday although the HOs were kind to let me arrive a day early so I didn’t need to book a hotel room. Near Stoke-on-Trent with a Jessie, a tripod terrier -

And Harter, a collie -

Visited the Potteries Museum and Art Gallery in Stoke-on-Trent. There is a comprehensive exhibit of the history and culture of the potteries. Included in the galleries is a personal collection of over 600 cow creamers.

And some salesmen’s (guessing it was mostly salesmen back then) samples of some of the more practical products of the potteries.

Also got to visit with the HO’s daughter whose airdale had a litter of 9 pups a week ago. Eyes and ears still closed but I got to hold 1 of them. Sorry no pictures of them.

Your pictures are making me nostalgic - I am a proud ‘Potter’ ( A person born in Stoke-on-Trent) - Almost all my family still live there.
You can identify a Potter anywhere in the world - they are the ones looking under cups and plates to see if they were made in Stoke.

Went to the coal mine and museum at Apedale today. Started down the mine tour but as we started to go to the smaller tunnel, I had to turn around - I’ve never been claustrophobic before….
I’m sitting in Hitchin the first part of April while you are in Buckinghamshire- probably too far for a meetup unless we find a day we are both in London.
I’m back in the UK- Bromley for the first 2 weeks of Sept and Portland 20 Aug - 13 Sept. Maybe see if we can find a place in between me and you in Brighton?

@Colin I’m not a Potter but I do look under cups and plates to make sure we are not using the expensive or hard to replace ones on a housesit!

I’m doing a week housesitting 3 rescue dogs at a lovely house in Sunset Beach, Cape Town, South Africa. This is my 4th sit here and I just love these dogs. Need a bigger bed here.

Sit 4 of 5 in the current UK string. Drove from near Stoke-on-Trent to Frodsham (near Chester) on Sunday. Sitting with a cat trio -
Bella, about 4 years old -

Lily (tortoise) and Lucy (black) who are 10 month old sisters -

I think Lucy is smiling in the picture.

Took the train in to Chester today (sunny and 50s) and wandered around.
Learned the difference between Norman and Gothic cathedral architecture as summed up in 1 photo from Chester Cathedral -

Hello happy travelers and sitters;
I just finished a blissful month long sit in the Blue ridge mountains North Carolina with exquisite chickens, a magnificent rooster, Dora the wandering explorer. Temps ranged from freezing at night to sunny and warm from one day to the next. Started with snow, left with blooming daffodils and gorgeous camelias.
The owners left me a truck for my use which I had no need for. I had my groceries delivered and spent many hours walking, sitting and swinging (lots of fun swings), feeding white squirrels, watching magnificent deer and gorgeous sunrises. oh and baking yumminess.
My HOs picked me up from Asheville airport and we spent a lovely afternoon and evening. We hit it off right away. I love when that happens.
We chatted 2-3 a week.
On the last day, they were driving with a late arrival so no personal hand off was made but everything was left ready for their arrival, including dinner and freshly baked yumminess.
The HOs at my next sit (friends now X 4 years thanks to THS) came and picked me up! 2 1/2 hour drive each way.
THiS life is good.

8 days to Portugal!
Life is what you make it!

Last week in the UK,
sit #5 with Lewis, a 10 year old terrier X. Very calm unless a motor cycle
passes on walks. Near Selby in Yorkshire.

Lewis and Tom at the Carleton cemetery where we had a pleasant talk with the grave digger who was there to open a small hole for box of ashes.
