Winter sun destinations... where are you escaping (or staying warm) this season?

Storms creating havoc, but fortunately for me seem to be just going around me. My brother not so lucky with broken windows and skylights. I think it will be a wild season.

I am in SoCal until mid Feb, then Scottsdale for 3 weeks, heading back. I am in LA now, tomorrow start a sit in Pasadena, then San Clemente, then Huntington Beach for a week, then N Tustin for a month. Then Scottsdale for 3 weeks, which takes me into 2nd week in March.

I’m at my sit in Phoenix now, and I’m so glad I decided to move south! I was in Denver before and we’d just started to get 30*F days when I left; now in Phoenix we’re looking at low 70s all next week. Much better!

There’s snow in Madrid, Spain right now. We opted to drive 5 hours for a 3 week stay to the coast, Javea. It’s been a disappointing time with rather more rain than anyone expected, or wanted! The dog goes out on the terrace and let’s me know if it wants to go any further! Rain is forecast all day! But sun is coming back and the flat is warm so I’m not too upset!

Frustrated Beach Boys!

I’m in Marrakech now where I booked a beautiful riad. I’m enjoying exploring the city and buying lots of stuff at the souks!

Watch out for those souks, we had to buy two extra carry on cases after our stint in Morocco! Way too tempting :wink:

I’m in sunny florida, left from wintery wisconsin. Here for a month, thank goodness!!! Not looking forward to returning to what we’ve had going on, lots of snow, freezing rain and ice. Will definitely be moving when I retire!!

@Cathie I was actually just saying to my sister, who is here with me, that I’m probably going to have to buy another suitcase to get my purchases home. :laughing:

Sit coming up in a 10 days in Portland Oregon. Not exactly a “sun” destination, but it’s one of our favorite US cities as it has city stuff to do but also a lot of hiking in old growth forests accessible by public transport. And the temperatures while not tropical, are a bit warmer than in NYC.

(Our 3rd time returning sitter will be doing her usual theater going and museum hopping while taking care of our cats.)

We’re still in Perth (area), 6 weeks in, and loving it! :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: The weather is spectacular and pretty stable. 3 more weeks here then another 3 week sit straight afterwards taking us to the day before our 90 day limit! Perfectly timed! As our friend @Cuttlefish might say…#maxingourtimeinOz!! :rofl:

You’ve sent the hot weather east @Lokstar :hot_face:

Just got back from the Big Island in Hawaii…one week just for me + 1 week on a sit. Tomorrow I head to Victoria BC to cover for a previous host who’s headed to Maui, then I’m home for a day before flying to the gulf coast for 2 back-to-back sits in S. Florida…very much looking forward to lots of poolside-basking!

After that, I’m home for a few weeks before I’ll be on my way back to Ireland and the UK for the spring. Looking forward to seeing a bit more of western Ireland this trip, followed by the Chelsea Garden Show in London (BIG time bucket list item! :raising_hands::raising_hands::raising_hands:)

Gosh, I love this slow-traveling, pet-cuddling lifestyle! :heart::two_hearts::blue_heart:

I visited Fort Myers years ago, just for a few days. It was a little road trip because a visit to my mother-in-law’s in Boynton Beach was too close to our anniversary and we had to go somewhere. I liked it a lot. Totally different vibe from Florida’s other coast.

Shortly we return to Western Canada. Sunny :sun: but snowy :snowflake:. Looking forward to fabulous snow adventures and to reconnections :smiley:. Photo of a golf hole (green shape and adjacent water hazard visible bottom right of photo) - really, it’s there under the snow!
