We started housesitting in Q2 2023. So 2024 was our first full year. Busy!
During 2024, we completed 309 days of housesitting (wow!). For 26 housesits (max 6 weeks/sit). Across US (California, Oregon, Nevada); Canada (BC, AB); UK (Scotland, England) and Greece (Crete, Athens). Many dogs and cats; four horses; one bird; one rabbit; and no pets - of these the horses were surprisingly the easiest!
We feel blessed to have met so many wonderful people; cared for mostly super (sometimes truly fabulous) pets; and maintained some remarkable properties. Fun times but delighted to relax and regroup in Q1 2025 
In 2024, two Pet Parents cancelled housesits at the last minute. Both were stressful and were in international locations. Both required scramble. One secured alternative housesit (mostly); one resulted in a successful THS Sit Cancellation Insurance claim.
We had selected learnings and reflections, such that housesit criteria have been tightened. It would now take a compelling reason for us to consider a housesit at which pet(s) sleep in human bed; where Pet Parent trip is not booked at/near time of sit confirmation; where we have concerns after video call; and/or where there is no credible commitment to complete Welcome Guide by/near date of sit confirmation. We may well tighten criteria further on basis that we’d rather decline housesit than have a poor experience.
