Breed character-Dachshund

Yup, I try to be very careful when carrying a pet up or down stairs. I had to carry one who’d had back problems and also pick her up for the couch. Luckily, she was well behaved and sat on the sofa for long periods. She was old and slept a lot.

I think by the time a dog needs that kind of help, they’re probably not resistant. But I avoid sits where the dogs are too big for me to reasonably pick up even if triggered. I don’t want them or me getting injured. And I want to be able to get them away from unsafe situations, like if they’re reactive and we unexpectedly run into trouble.

I’ve done two sittings with Dachshunds and they are the sweetest most adorable creatures. They did not require special attention apart from carrying them up or down high places. It is very important to keep their weight under control because of their long back suffers from overweight.
I am sure you are going to love their company.
