Hi everyone, I’m new to THS and looking to find house sitter(s) for future vacations. I have been recommended some sitters who have sat for friends of a friend in my location, but only been provided with a reference number - no names or even country. Is there any way to look these recommended sitters up using a number? Sorry if the question is strange, but really want to follow up on these recommendations and my friend is not as yet following up with the person who recommended them!

Welcome @Suecee. The only way to find out more about those sitters is to get the details of their name and location (most important) from the friends of your friend. They should be able to send a link to you of those sitters’ profiles. Were you able to click on the “reference number” you were given? I am unaware of a reference number that you mention unless it was the referral code you used to join.

My guess is that the reference number you’ve been provided may be for your membership, in order to get 25% off if it is in the format RAFXXXXXX (with the X being numbers). Otherwise, I’m not aware that sitters have reference numbers, nor is it really possible to find a sitter by name unless you scroll through the list of sitters in a particular area.
It is probably best for your friend to provide links to the sitter’s profiles so you can contact them directly through the site, so you know you’re contacting the correct person. Good luck!
There is a number in the url of sitters, maybe that is the number you were given. If you google that number together with “trustedhousesitters” you may be able to find that profile page.
Many thanks Temba for your welcome and advice. I was sent 3 different links with 3 different reference numbers for the recommended sitters. Unfortunately when clicking on each link I’m taken to the same THS home page. I didn’t join via another member’s referral, but directly to the THS promotion a few weeks ago.

Many thanks for your response. Unfortunately 3 different links were forwarded with 3 different numbers (none with RAF in front of the numbers) each taking me to the THS home page. I have asked if my friend can obtain links directly to each of the 3 sitters so she has to wait for her friend to respond and provide that … my fingers are crossed!

Thank you for your suggestion which I have now tried, but unfortunately I’m just taken to the main THS home page. I will try and obtain more information through my friend.
Quick note to welcome you to THS and to commend your approach. THS can seem initially overwhelming so lowering risk via referral seems smart.
Your friend should be able to provide URLs to any housesitter.
But if that’s tricky then your friend probably has contact info (e.g. email address, phone number or WhatsApp) of housesitter so could forward an intro note from you to housesitter or, with mutual consent, connect you directly.

Following on from the suggestion @pietkuip made, I just tried with the number from my own profile url and it seems to me that if you go to the home page and locate the profile of any sitter (search a random location and click on the first sitter profile that appears), then in the url of that profile you can over-type the number of those sitters with the number of the sitters you want to view and when you hit enter it wil load their profile.
Of course, it’s also possible that these sitters are no longer members and that’s why the links don’t work.

Thank you for your welcome and message. Unfortunately the URLs my friend sent aren’t connecting so I’m waiting for her to get details so that I can perhaps email them so they can connect directly with me
Thank you for your suggestion and I’ve followed your advice with all 3 reference profile numbers. Unfortunately I get the same response that profile not found and just lists all the sitters in the same country as the sitter I selected. I’ll wait to hear back from my friend but it may be as you suggest, that the sitters are no longer members.

I think I know the answer ( having just tried this with my own profile )
First log out of Trusted House sitters
Then try the links you’ve been given .
When logged into THS if I click on the URL link to my profile I only get to the home page.
However if I log out and try the same link I get to see my profile .

Thank you for your suggestion but unfortunately I still only get to the home page even after logging out completely then putting in one of the profile links I have been sent. I have even tried different browsers but unfortunately still cannot link to any of the profiles.

Can you see the profile of your friend, and by that find the reviews of your friend and thereby the sitters? They will probably have left reviews for your friend, and you will find their name and the period they sat for your friend. Via the sitters pages you can also see the reviews your friend left for their sitters. That might give you some clues. For instance if you know the sitters were there mid-July, or a couple from Denver or similar.

Thank you for your advice, however, my friend is not on THS, but other friends of hers are and she had asked them for their recommendations to pass on to me. All I received were links with 3 different reference numbers that unfortunately do not lead me to them. I have asked my friend to make contact to see if she can share her friend’s profile and then I will search as you’ve advised. She is travelling for work at the moment so have to wait until she returns. Thank you again
Is it a 7-digit number? Try this:

The URL will rewrite itself with a location when the page loads, but that part is not necessary. HO pages will have a 6-digit number (in my limited experience) like this https://www.trustedhousesitters.com/house-and-pet-sitting-assignments/l/<number>/
I know this because I’ve moved a few times since joining THS and noticed the number in my URL was staying the same. It’s handy as a consistent link!

Thank you for your advice. I have tried the 3 numbers (7 digits each) after the link you provided and for each I get a message “profile not available. Please check back later”. I’ll have to wait for my friend to make contact with the THS members for the info I believe.
