Can I just see my target area rather than the world when I open the app?

Hi everyone , i am new to THS and very excited. We are from Istanbul/Turkey and our D is studying in Boston . For this time , we are just interested in Boston area but when i open the web page i see sitting adds for the entire world. Is it possible to change that and just see sitting for Boston area for our dates ? Best, Adnan

Gunaydin from Kalkan :waving_hand: @Turkishguide - you can create a saved search for Boston and your chosen dates and then you’ll get alerts as sits come up. You can also favourite individual Boston sits that you like the look of and they’ll ping you when they come up too. The latter is normally faster than the city save so do both. #toptips

Click onto find a sit, then where it says “where do you want to go “, put Boston. I assume you’ve been doing this? Or do as @Cuttlefish suggests and save searches.

On the app, you can go to the bottom of the Sits page and click on Map. Then you can zoom in on the area you’re interested in.

But it shows all months . It is waste of time to look at one by one as they are from starting August where as my date is December.

You can select your desired dates, as well as pets, duration etc. It should be just to the right of the location you type in.

Sounds like you overlooked or didn’t understand the date selection filter. It lets you specify.

Personally, I use that feature all the time to choose windows when I might sit in certain locations. Coincidentally, I just started a lovely sit in Boston, with two sweet cats. I had only a five-or six-week window during which I could sit and specifically wanted to come to Boston and the date selection filter worked perfectly for that — found an ideal sit for me.

Yes, you should see a box that says where do you want to go? If you type in Boston, a drop down menu should have it to click on. The box is right at the top, by where it says 10000 sits worldwide or some similar thing.

Two additional things to watch out for:

  1. Even if you select Boston, you’ll see a lot of listings in towns can be up to an hour away and may not have public transportation. Definitely use the Maps function -and perhaps an app like Google Maps to plot out distance and time on the train/bus - to help you with that.

  2. Housesitting is considered work by the immigration people. Does your daughter have an address that is not a dormitory?

Oh thank you ! I am a tour guide and I have many guests who live in Boston . Actually I will stay with them as well at arrival and between sits. Thank you
