Coming soon! New pet-centric sitter tags 🐾

@Ben-ProductManager I can see the new format of sitter profiles on the web page, but not yet when I use the app. Will both platforms move to the new format at some point?

hello

App changes coming soon, should be live over the next week.

Thanks, Ben

I have just noticed that sitter profiles have now changed to show the Our Experience section as the first introduction and the About section now comes towards the end after the Reviews section.

I am not sure why this was changed. To me it seems a retrograde step.

I had to go back and rewrite the experience section because previously I had spent more effort on the About section. Instead of making changes to things like this that members have not asked for, why can’t they focus on things we are asking for such as, a blind Airbnb style review system?

@IHeartAnimals keep in mind that your profile may be one that’s not displayed consistently right now. For example, on the website mine is the old way but on the app it’s the new way. Confusing? Frustrating? Yep. For now I only made minor edits as I’m anticipating that things may not stay as they currently display. :slightly_smiling_face: :upside_down_face:

It would be nice if these could be reverted back now the test phase finished several weeks ago

Frustrating as all get out.

So, if I update our Profile to read ā€œrightā€ on the website, it will read ā€œwrongā€ on the app.

I haven’t checked our years of experience yet, but have a feeling it could be the reason we just lost out on a wonderful sit.

***Ive just now looked at our app profile and it reads the same as our website profile, with Experience noted first. Still don’t see years of experience. Will keep looking.

Same here. And as a precaution, I am going to copy and paste my current Profile into a Word document so I have my original version which I spent much time crafting.

And mine’s the opposite @Snowbird - new on the website and old on the app.

I wholeheartedly agree, @Snowbird. I had uploaded photos previously, but when I’ve just now rejigged our Profile to the new format and looked at a Preview, I don’t like that the pet photos are so easily linked with the Reviews which sit immediately below. It would be so simple to put 2 and 2 together and connect the dots between pet photo and HO. I’ve now deleted all pet photos.

Others have said it, so I’m just adding another voice. Not a fan of the new profiles. As a homeowner: If I was hiring drop in from a service, I might be interested in experience first, but here I can read about the experience and the reviews later. I am looking to connect with someone I want as a guest in my home. Please let me read about the person who will literally be sleeping in my bed first! Also I am not crazy about people taking photos of my pets and potentially using them on social media or who knows where, so I’d rather not see thumbnails previous pets cared for on a sitters profile. It doesn’t tell me anything. It doesn’t prove anything. Photos of the sitter being with a pet – how the pet is looking at the sitter – those say something and I am looking to see if a sitter has included them in their profile pics.

As a sitter I feel like putting my experience first devalues me as a person. This is a community. My experience is important and I would expect a HO to read that part before choosing me, but I should be allowed to introduce myself as a person first. Again, it’s part of what makes this different than choosing a paid sitter as a service provider. This model doesn’t work if we can’t connect on a human level.

I’m unsure of your point @PetSitterBug, my fault I’m sure but is it not nearly always possible to work out for whom a sitter did a sit and to see the pets in the HO listing, should someone want to do that research?

On the THS App, when looking at a HOs listing, you can see all past sit dates and respective Sitters, whether a Sitter has left a Review or not.

Not the case with a Sitter’s Profile where you only see past sits where a HO has left Feedback.

I’m actually thinking I might just switch my about and experience content around even if the headers are wrong.

This is what I see on App & mobile web using Android phone.
I see this order

Name photo on me & my Intro

Background check info

My photos

About Me

Why I want to house sit

My experience

Pet care experience.

Then age, occupation. How I travel
availability, prefered locations,

Let’s start a movement!

So my fix was a little editing and I combined my introduction and experience into the experience section. If they change it around again, it says in the ā€œAbout Me/Introductionā€ to read the experience section and ask me for a link to my HO profile.

Hi,

I was looking into the new experience section and introducing pets you cared for in the past. Do a lot of sitters use this ā€œintroducing petā€ feature yet and what do you think about it? I have looked at some random sitter profiles and haven’t seen anyone use it yet, although I just looked at a few.

Also, I’m wondering, what’s the reason for having to choose a breed from a list? I’m missing some dog breeds that I would need as a choice, such as Tenterfield terrier and Toy poodle (although I guess I could technically just choose ā€œpoodleā€ for the last one). I saw you could choose Mix-breed, but what if you want to type out what mix the pet is? (A pet can’t be added without choosing a breed from the list). Could we instead be able to type the breed freely? I mean, if someone decides not to type out the correct breed, it will only affect them anyway.

Just my thoughts and questions, hope you all will have a nice day.
Cheers
