Confirmed sitter but listing still active

I have a confirmed sitter and no longer want my listing to be seen, nor do I want multiple emails saying a sitter has saved my listing. I have seen a few HO questions around this topic, but none really answer the issue of how a listing can be removed from view of sitters. There should be an easy way to remove visibility of the listing.

Did you hit the confirm button after you two agreed the sit after messaging/ video calling together?
Did the sitter hit the accept button?

I am a sitter, so I don’t know the name of the button, but a houseowner has to really “choose” me after we have a videocall, by pressing a sort of invite/ confirm button.

And I, as a sitter, also have to push on the accept button.

Then the listing dissapears as “reviewing” or “open” from the website.

@BGSoFla Your listing stays visible on the website at all times .

If you don’t have dates listed (because you have already confirmed a sitter )it will be in this section (which is below listings that are looking for sitters) It looks like this :point_down:t3:

Sitters can save it as a favourite  .There’s no function to opt out of that.

However you may be able to opt out of receiving e-mails that notify you that sitters have saved it . You can ask member services if it’s possible

Not really. The listing stays there, and anyone with the url can see it (not only members).

It is just much less visible than listings with open dates.

After you hit confirm, the sitter then needs to hit the accept/confirm button too. So it’s the sitter that needs to confirm it (maybe they have been asleep or at work).

Oh yes, you are right. :+1:
I misread the question. I thought it was about how to “close” the open dates in “not currently seeking a sitter”.

A possible workaround if you don’t want to see repeated emails about someone saving your listing as a favorite: Most email programs allow you to customize so that you can automatically send certain emails to specific folders or to the trash. So depending on what the email subject line is, you could create a customization for that. Say if THS favorites emails have a subject line like “You’ve been favorited,” then you could automate all emails with that subject line to the trash or a folder that you never look at.

You want to avoid blocking THS as a sender altogether, though, because there are emails you’ll need, like payments info or whatever.

I don’t think there is a way to opt out of the completely irrelevant daily emails telling me a sitter has saved my listing. I wish there were.

Yes, sent the invite, sitter accepted and I have confirmed. The sit shows as an upcoming item in my dashboard, so all is complete with that part.

No, as both sides have confirmed and this shows as an upcoming item on my dashboard.

Wow, this is my first time with a trip on THS and I did not realize the listing will stay visible indefinitely. Not at all what I signed up for, but thank you for letting me know. I was hoping for a little more discretion and privacy. thanks

I think it will disappear once you’re no longer a member.

If you are still uncomfortable with the listing being visible while you are an active member, maybe its possible to remove some photos/edit down text until you are ready to post new dates (should you choose to do so). I would just preemptively let your confirmed sitter know you are doing this and why

Or maybe one can change location (and country). That might be least work to revert the changes when one needs new sitters. (It is what sitters often do, for example to get rid of invitations. Maybe that trick could work for owners too.)

I think the issue is that your sitter has not actually hit the “agree to sit” button in the inbox area. Once he/she does that, your listing will not show as active. Are you sure they have actually hit that button? If they have, then you should contact THS support. But, as others have mentioned, your listing does sometimes stay visible even when it doesn’t have active dates and other sitters are still able to see it and favorite it.
