Do You Prefer Sweet Or Savoury?

So are you a sweet or a savoury fan? Or perhaps you cannot make your mind up and you are both!:slightly_smiling_face:

I actually go from one to the other being my favourite fairly regularly!

This is my favourite savoury dish, Swedish meatballs with cream sauce, lingonberries and potato purĆ©eā€¦ delicious! :yum:

My favourite sweet dish is a Tiramisu

So are you a sweet or a savoury fan? Or perhaps you cannot make your mind up like me and you are both!:slightly_smiling_face:

What is your favourite savoury food?

Wellā€¦Iā€™m both and love almost everythingā€¦even when combined. I love hot pepper jelly with cheese on crackersā€¦salty, spicy and sweetā€¦all at the same time. I love Salted Caramel Browniesā€¦and Ice Cream. I love caramelized onions on burgersā€¦and the list goes on and on.

Makes it a little tough as my husband doesnā€™t like the combination, so I need to indulge in those things when he isnā€™t around.

Definitely savory @Samox24 ā€¦ TBH Iā€™m sweet enough

I would rather end a meal with a cheese board than a sticky toffee pudding, the only exception to that is Juniors Cheesecake

We discovered Juniors on a six week NY sit and almost ODā€™'d on it. The recipe is online and it is as good as from the restaurant.

I made it when we got back to Vancouver, which cost about $50 (donā€™t ask) and it was amazing. Unfortunately in the UK you cannot buy the blocks of Philly Cream Cheese, only the lighter, whipped version which is not the right consistency for the cake and doesnā€™t give the same results.

This cheesecake is my only ā€œSweetā€ indulgence although you could argue that being a cheesecake makes it savory too

@Angela_L It looks divine! :heart_eyes:

ā€¦another one for the ā€œto doā€ list!

Interesting question.
I would say I am more of a savoury person ā€¦ I would always opt for a starter and a main, as opposed to a main and a dessert. However, I do love a stunning baked cheesecake, carrot cake, a scone or two as well and a bar of dairy milk chocolate occasionally. :joy:

Thanks, @Angela_L! Iā€™m not an East Coaster, so Iā€™ve never heard of Juniorā€™s. Now Iā€™m curious which people prefer, that or the Basque Burnt Cheesecake: Your Top 3 European Cities? - #25 by Samox24

Anyone had both? I guess weā€™ll all have to!

And actually, my vote is ā€œsavoury.ā€

I am definitely a savory person; I will never have to worry about gaining weight from sweets in my life, lol! A few bites of a dessert and I am usually done if I have any dessert at all.

My favorite savory dish is curry of almost all kinds! I almost exclusively love bold, spicy flavors!

I do like some desserts, just hardly crave them. My favorite dessert might be key lime pie or lemon bars.

@FreeSpiritManette My hubby would have to agree with you on that! He prefers savoury too although it never seems to stop him helping me finish my dessert!

Ahh Key Lime pie, I absolutely love these now. I tried my first ever in Key West and it was absolutely yummy so I am addicted now! :yum::slightly_smiling_face:

Depends on the time of day for me. From morning till about 3p itā€™s savory and then after itā€™s sweet as a snack not for dinner

@Kelly I am very much the same, I swing from craving all things savoury to then just wanting all things sweet :face_with_hand_over_mouth:

I am more savoury. It was World Social Worker day last week. My workplace put on a nice little celebration with food. I went for the cheese and crackers over the sweets (meringues, lemon tarts, cakes etc)

I have never met a sweet I didnā€™t love! And those calories are hard to lose once my tongueā€™s had itā€™s pleasure! So I generally stay away from sweets. Hereā€™s one I couldnā€™t resist the last time I was in London: one of the best hot chocolates anywhere with milk, white and dark chocolate shavings mixed in! Swoon!!

@Karen_E that just looks too good! :yum::sweat_smile:

Canā€™t resist my sweets, but I do get overwhelmed after a few bites.

A good curry, on the other hand, will cause me to keep eating until Iā€™m fit to burst.

And then eat a few after eight mints!

Not a curry, but I was served this while on a sit in Portugal a few days ago!

Definitely savoury; Iā€™ve had mashed potatoes and gravy as a dessert at a buffet.

Hi @therealchrisgray ahhh yes I know exactly what you mean as I love a good curry too! :+1:t2::slightly_smiling_face:

For reference if you are near to Praia da Luz in Lagos, Portugal there is a fantastic Indian restaurant there that you might like to try called Pashmina, the food there is just soooo good! :yum:

Hmmm, sounds good. Wish I had known about it when I was there. Itā€™s 300km from where I am now, about 4 hours in my old van.

Long way to go, even for a good curry! See if I can find a sit nearby. Thanks for the recommendation.
