Editing reviews

I have a question about information in reviews. Can a host remove comments by sitters and their own responses to these comments? I had an experience recently where I suspect this might have happened. Consequently I cancelled my application and accepted a sit somewhere else. I lost faith in the host and did not trust them, so was not prepared to take on a role of responsibility with them. After doing a review for a previous sit I noticed that you can’t edit your review once submitted.

No. Once submitted, no changes are possible by members. Member Services can make changes but that’s rare and only in extenuating circumstances.

What makes you suspect this? It is highly unlikely.

How could there be reviews and comments to reviews for a sit if you withdrew your application and the sit never happened?

@brickard didn’t say it was their review. They didn’t mention why they suspect reviews had been edited either. That’s only possible if there were terms of abuse.

Hi @brickard

I thought I’d drop a link to our review guidelines here.

Comments and responses can’t be removed, as mentioned by @OnTheRoadAgain, unless there’s extenuating circumstances. We operate a “tamper proof” policy to ensure all reviews are genuine and reliable.

Today I came across this very strange racist? remark in a review (not on my own profile) See red flag

Don’t know what to think of it

I know what to think of it and would report it to support@trustedhousesitters.com.

Worst thing was them being German and I don’t like stereo typing or being prejudiced

You mean like them?

Likely something was lost in translation.

Sharing our home with young folks from South Africa taught me to assume the best of non-native English speakers until proven otherwise.

Unfortunatly nothing that white in the Netherlands but thnx for the input :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Sometimes people say the quiet part out loud.

Hi @co_ri_na

Thanks for flagging this.

I had to remove the screenshot as sharing information from other people’s accounts is against our Community Guidelines, but I did want to confirm that we passed this over to the team for review.
