Forum route in has moved

Is it just me but it took me 20 minutes to find the NEW route into this Forum. It’s now located via the App in the Help section…. there was no warning! :double_exclamation_mark: Why?
Also I didn’t join until 2024 so not sure why it says I’ve been a member since 2019?

Thanks for alerting us to this @BonnyinBrighton. I’ve just checked and that’s where mine is too. Must be one of the new improvements to making our experience seamless

Hmmmm, mine is still located at the same place

Hi @BonnyinBrighton

Thanks for sharing this.

You’re absolutely right, the forum route has moved to the ‘Help’ sub-menu as part of the recent app update for combined members.

@Mark_B I’m not a combined member and mine has also been moved. I spent a good bit of time yesterday trying to figure it out and finally did a workaround searching via the direct URL and bookmarking it. Thanks @BonnyinBrighton for the update.

Why aren’t members notified of such changes? Surely this should have been a major product announcement on the forum, BEFORE it was implemented?

Hi @Snowbird,

The combined knowledge and experience of forum members is truly amazing.

You’re right that the forum doesn’t have a single task, but the forum’s primary focus is a place for (forum) members to find support from other (forum) members.

Useful link - this page is written for newer members who are looking to explore the forum for the first time.

Why didn’t you do a product announcement BEFORE the change? Hopefully you were given advance warning.

@Mark_B Does this change now make the forum only accessible to TrustedHousesitters members?

Worth every penny of the new sit fees.

@giuvax Mine shows the date I joined TrustedHousesitters, not when I joined the forum. Maybe that’s the same for the both of you? @BonnyinBrighton

IMO: I think this was a mistake for no gain.

For the Product Development team:

  • Making the Forums harder to find by putting it under a sub-menu further decreases the percentage of active members who will find & use them. I regularly meet & text with members who have no idea there even IS a Community Forum. Often it’s members looking for last minute sitters who I end up directing here, all of whom seem shocked but grateful to discover such a useful thing exists. Why make this even LESS visible?
  • Having the link display in a different location depending upon what type of membership you have is just exacerbating the chaotic UI inconsistencies we already deal with because the app functionality is SO different from the website functionality. It adds even more confusion to the mix.

Now I won’t even know how to easily direct people to the Forums without having to take extra effort to go find & paste a direct link. (I used to be able to just tell them it was on their Dashboard.)

No, the forum remains available to all.

I was wondering where it had disappeared to! I opened my phone app to catch up on topics in the Forum and it wasn’t there. Thanks @BonnyinBrighton Is this part of the non-requested ‘improvements’ from THS? lol

Was the location of the link to the Forum discussed and thought out in advance by THS? This “solution“ does not seem to be in the best interests of its paying members.

I’ve just been googling it every time to get in the forum, and I’mnot a combined member. Don’t get me started on the “improvements “, I’ve never known the app to be so unstable and glitchy. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it 6 times in the last 3 days, absolutely nothing would load up.

I only clicked on Help because I reached exasperation point proving that this is not the intuitive place for the Forum..
