Forum Team Update: Join us in wishing Carla all the best

Hello everyone,

I hope you’re all well!

We wanted to give you all an update about Carla. You might have noticed that she’s been offline for a few weeks now, and as I know some of you have close connections with her, we didn’t want to leave you wondering what was going on.

Carla has been part of the Forum team for a few years now, and before that, she had worked in other areas of Trusted Housesitters (a great all-rounder!) as well as being an experienced pet sitter with THS. This meant that when she took on the role of Community Owner last year, she brought a wealth of experience to the team, and in that time we’ve seen the Forum evolve and grow from sturdy foundations under her guidance.

Carla has decided that it’s time to step away from Trusted Housesitters and take a break to explore new opportunities. This means that she won’t be returning to the Forum team, although we very much hope that her path crosses with Trusted Housesitters again soon!

I will be your Community Manager as usual, with Therese moderating during our early (UK) mornings, and Maeve and Sam moderating during the hours you’d normally see Carla online. If and when there are any changes to the Forum team, we’ll be sure to let you know, but for now, this is how we’ll work.

While Carla won’t be returning to the Forum, we wanted to give you all an opportunity to share something about Carla whether it’s a funny memory, some great advice she shared, or simply some well wishes which we hope to pass along to her! The Forum team will also share some memories too, in the replies.

We’re all going to miss Carla loads, I know you’ll all feel the same, so let’s celebrate the good times where we can, and wish her all the very best on her new path.

Huge Forum team hugs,

Jenny, Therese, Maeve, and Sam :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

This is a bit vague but, years ago, I had a problem with my account. After numerous attempts to have this rectified, Carla arranged a time with me for a phone call.
We spent about 30 minutes on the phone - it, whatever it was, was rectified by Carla.
Good luck Carla and enjoy your new opportunities

I had the opportunity to work with Carla for a bit, and I’ll miss her dedication and professionalism v much. But also her wonderful sense of humour. One particular call we had a good laugh about how Brits love to say “not too bad” whenever someone asks how you’re doing. This Bill Bailey sketch had us both laughing all over the place.

Carla and I have worked together for many years on and off, in different areas of the business, and you could not meet a more insightful, genuine and caring person who was always happy to help. I will miss working with her on the forum dearly. Her incredible love for animals tells you all you need to know about what a superb human being she is. Carla, wishing you great success in the future.

A fortunate twist of fate brought me together with Carla. We knew each other on the Forum when she was a moderator and I was a very involved member, and became friends when we realized we had both sat for the same sweet black Lab.

As a friend, she is warm, caring and a delight to know. As a manager, she’s gifted with fabulous people skills. She’s kind, fair and diplomatic in both her spoken and written communications, and she has a great sense of humor! As forums go, many people and many viewpoints give rise to the inevitable conflicts. These Carla always dealt with gently and with consideration for others’ feelings, true to the lovely person that she is.

She fostered a supportive and collaborative team dynamic. I enjoyed our team meetings and even looked forward to my periodic performance reviews. And I admired how deftly she juggled her many responsibilities as Community Owner, maintaining Forum operations and coordinating with other departments within TrustedHousesitters.

I miss her here on the Forum, that’s for sure, but I know the future holds many good times and growth opportunities for her. I thank Carla for her friendship and for the privilege of working with her.

With love and best wishes, Maeve

I first met Carla as an active member on the Forum and then had the immense pleasure of working with her as she was my manager. I found her to always be very communicative and supportive, displaying a keenness to develop my skills of working on the Forum. I looked forward to our team meetings when we would always start with a catch up of what we had been doing since our last meeting before commencing business. I was sorry to hear of Carla’s departure and wish her well for all of her future endeavours.

For someone who loves words as much as I do, I’ve been finding it really hard to share my own thoughts about Carla, because it’s just so difficult to summarise such an incredible person!

I’ve worked with Carla for just under a year, and loved every second of it. While we didn’t always see each other (she in the US, me in the UK!), our catch-ups were always monumental and full of laughter. She has the gift of making what might seem every day, FUN.

Carla’s knowledge of all things Trusted Housesitters was unrivalled, and this made us a great team, as we complemented each other’s talents and quirks very well.

I miss Carla loads, and I really hope that she fully embraces her next adventure, and shares her Carla magic with the world.

Big love, my friend!

Have also been thinking about this and the lovely @Carla - despite never meeting in person she was always full of warmth, kindness, compliments and curiosity in her messages and DMs. More people should have all those qualities in life :star2::100: She will be missed & if you’re reading this @Carla, please send me your email :raised_hands:t3::heart: #happyfutureadventures
