Four years and still a discrepancy

It’s at least 4 years since this was first mentioned, but why on the app is the # of reviews different to and wrong, compared with the website? Can it really be that difficult to fix?

The app shows 100 reviews, but this includes 6 references, the website shows 94 reviews.

I can’t understand why this inconsistency still hasn’t been fixed.

My best guesses are

  1. They don’t know how
  2. They don’t think it matters

Open to other ideas!

Never noticed this until you pointed it out. For me - 115 on the www site and 118 in the app.

To me it’s indicative of incompetence, poor QA, lack of attention to detail, failure to listen to members and more generally “we don’t care”.

They’re too busy unfixing other issues. The inconsistencies between app and website are growing. Perhaps that’s their goal?

Hi @TheEnglishFlaneur

Just to let you know that I passed this across to the Tech team and they have since come back to me to confirm that in the app, the total shown combines Reviews and References together — so the “100” figure is actually 94 verified reviews + 6 references. On the web, this only shows the Reviews count, hence 94. Within the app, they are labelled clearly as “Verified Review” so that members can distinguish between the two types, but the team do recognise the combined headline number itself is what’s causing the confusion.

The team advised they would like to align the web experience to the same combined-count logic in the app uses, but this isn’t something that they are actively working on right now. So to confirm, there’s no near-term fix planned, although they will be looking to resolve this going forward.

Thanks for the update.
