Happy to find this forum!

Hi Everyone, I’m Christie, new to TH. Although I live on Maui, my travels can take me anywhere. I’ve read so many interesting adventure stories on this forum! I’ve noticed in some of the applications I’ve submitted that the owners are looking for someone closer to their home location. Living in the middle of the ocean makes this a bit difficult! I was interested to see other sitters posting about their “home” location being a deterrent to their being considered for a sit. Also, “ageism” has been talked about by some of the “older” crowd. Like some of them, I will be 70 on my next birthday this December. I walk an average of 5-6 miles a day, sometimes as many as 10, and completed my last running marathon just a few years ago, at age 65. Think of all the experience we seasoned folks have amassed! Admittedly, my knowledge of dogs is negligible, but I’ve owned and cared for cats since I was a child. My travels have taken me to all 7 continents, mostly through my participation in running marathons. Volunteering with Habitat for Humanity and Cross Cultural Solutions took me to New Zealand and Africa. I’m fascinated that sitting has become a lifestyle for folks signed on with TH! This way of life sounds really appealing to me! Since I live in a condo where pets aren’t allowed, I signed on to TH so that I could spend time with furry felines while helping owners whose life plans include traveling, as well as to explore new locales. I’m looking forward to reading more interesting stories from sitters, as well as reading about any helpful tips!.

Christie - if you ever want to visit Dallas, you sound like a perfect sitter for my 2 cats! I am also a runner and most of my running group are just under or over 60, and still running marathons. I get it!

Hi @Christie a very warm welcome to our community forum and to TrustedHousesitters, I am more than sure that you will fit into this amazing lifestyle like the proverbial glove.

Thank you for a wonderful introduction into your life and so begins a new chapter. Age really is just a number we are all different, it’s not about the years we’ve been on this earth. Pet and house sitting is a way to experience slow travel living like a local ,connecting with pets, people and places and we cannot wait to share in your new adventure.

Enjoy connecting with our members from around the world and welcome again.

Hi Lassie,
Wow! I’ve never been to Dallas! I’d be more than happy to sit for you! Just say the word!
That’s so cool that you are in a group of runners in their/your 60’s. What a great social as well as physical outlet. Hats off to all of you for keeping fit & fine!
All the best!
