Hi, I’ve decided to join this amazing community of pet lovers following the loss of my dog at Christmas. I’ve applied for a few sits already, and am both nervous and excited to get started. I’ve been rehabilitating and training a foster dog for the last few months, and she is leaving to head off to her forever home at the end of this month, and then my new dog sitting journey will begin. I look forward to reading some of your posts, and following in your adventures and footsteps.
@BestFriendsFurever so sorry to hear you lost your dog…thats tough! Welcome to the sitters world and you will have lots of great adventures along the way…dont forget to send us some photos on the forum!
Thank you so much, the grief never leaves you, but it does become more manageable. I’m now ready to get out there and get moving again, combining my passions of dogs and travel.
Hi @BestFriendsFurever thank you for joining TrustedHousesitters, welcome to our community Forum. I’m so sorry for the loss of your best friend and companion, the sadness can be overwhelming and we truly understand how you feel, sharing with those who do understand can help, please know that you are not alone.
My pet sitting journey began with the loss of my beloved Springer, my best friend and family member for 14 years but she was also the wisest of souls for she lead me to pet sitting which helped heal my heart and brought pet joy back into my life … so many of our members have the same story. I tell people that TrustedHousesitters fulfills my three passions … pets, people and places in a way I never thought possible.
We look forward to sharing in your new and exciting journey, if you need any help or advice our members are incredibly supportive, we all began in the same place … at the beginning.
Enjoy the conversations and connecting with our members from around the world.

Hello @BestFriendsFurever, so sorry to hear you lost a FurFriend, I’m sure you have many happy memories of your time together.
Now it’s time to make new memories. Wishing you lots of luck with your sittings and adventures ahead.
Hi Angela, thank you for the welcome. I remember speaking to you by phone not long after losing Harley, when I first enquired about TH, and your story of how you journey started has really stayed with me and helped me to see that pet sitting will also be able to help with my healing too, so thank you.

Thank you so much, I’ve applied for a few sits now so I guess it’s just a waiting game. Some of the tips on the forum have really helped, so rather than apply for just one and assume I will be successful, I’m focussing on the dates I’m looking for and then applying for several.
It is so sad to lose our pets, they will all still be looking down on us, and their spirit never leaves us. I wear a pendant every day which holds a small amount of Harley’s ashes, now I feel like my adventure buddy is always with me. So sorry for your loss also, but well done for opening your heart to adopting a new pet.
