Seems a bit of a flaw in the recording of sits/reviews that when a home owner moves house or country this comes up as the previous sit! Therefore instead of recording Italy it now says I’ve done a sit in Hong Kong!!! Quite different. I would prefer an accurate account of where I’ve sat as it seems like an untruth to just change history.
It would be awkward if a new HO asked about your sit in Hong Kong and you (ignoring this change) said “I have never been to Hong Kong”
It happened to me but it was a new location not far from the one I had really sat at. It hadn’t occurred to me that it could create confusion. Also if someone thinks you’re familiar with an area you’re not…
Totally, also I was really confused at first and thought I’d been hacked. I think it’s really important that THS records an accurate history of sits undertaken. Afterall the previous data about the original sit must be stored? What if I say to a potential HO I’m used to city living in an apartment and that has now gone from my sits history? I’m going to look like a liar ! Alternatively, I could lie (if I was that way inclined) and say I have say experience in such and such but their profile has now changed… Any answers THS? Thanks.
I did a sit in Wisconsin and the HO now lives in Florida, so the sit I did shows as Florida. Another sit that I’ve done twice will switch to another continent (Europe to Asia) since the HOs are moving soon. THS should really fix this issue so our sitting history is accurate.
This has come up as an issue on threads before. It could be why I sometimes get invites to NYC sits even though I live in NYC and would never sit here. (Well maybe I would but it would have to a helluva home!) I did a sit in Pennsylvania for hosts who had a house there and an apartment they were subletting in Brooklyn.
What’s even stranger is that I always write about the location in the review so no Greenpoint Brooklyn is NOT the home of Highlights for Kids Magazine and the oldest still existing synogogue in Pennsylvania.
It would be nice if @moderators could bring this to the attention of someone. I can’t imagine that figuring out a fix would be that big a technical challenge.
@Marion , we’ve passed this over to the Product team. As you suggest, it’s a good idea to mention the current location in your review to accurately reflect where the sit took place.
I don’t agree. I think mentioning the place in the review would just confuse people reading it and lead them to think it’s a bit strange. I think the previous poster was not suggesting that but instead suggesting that THS do something to stop it happening.
This was an issue on couchsurfing too. If I moved (I’m an HO), I would just put in my profile “sits prior to xx/xx were in Other City”. This is not just for me, but in case anyone is following up on a review I left for a prior sitter.
I have had a one not only change location to another continent but the following also changed:
Name of pet
Species of pet
Name of owner
Face of owner
Contacted THS and they insisted it was the same person. Must have had some serious plastic surgery.
I now think they sold their membership to someone else.
