Fair enough. I’ve seen a lot of posts where people have a problem and have posted on the forum saying essentially “help what do I do?!” before doing anything when it seems obvious they should talk to the other people involved. Hence my assumption. Clearly you are not one of these people. I’m glad to hear you’re making progress towards getting to the bottom of it.

It seems crazy and annoying for both you and the host that they can’t reverse this and allow a review of the sit and the sitter. This is the part I don’t understand, or that they would advise you that you could just leave which if I were the host and my credit card hadn’t gone through and the only notice I got was some email going to junk, I would be livid. This is a ridiculously solvable issue.

The reaction should’ve been: Homeowner fixes credit card issue. Account reinstated. Since the sit started when the account was active AND ended with the account active it was an “official” sit.

Regarding other stuff: I NEVER use the THS messaging system as a sitter or as a host once the sit is confirmed. It is too risky. I use WhatsApp and phone and usually have an email as well. There should also ALWAYS be printed guides left in the home.

Going to add that if I were in your shoes or the homeowners I would complain to a human ask for a supervisor, write an email, and go on Trust Pilot. This is not a disaster but it is a simple issue and there is no reason on earth that they can’t resolve a simple issue to the benefit of both members. Not fixing this is a bad look. If they can’t meet member expectations on something this simple, what happens when there is a BIG issue?
