Hi everyone. My name is Paula. I´m looking for sitters for my Lab, Oasis and my cat Mae. We live in Seville, Spain. I´ll be away for a month!! I need it urgently and don´t know how to start.
Hola @Patisporelmundo, are you already a member of Trustedhousesitters?
This is the forum of the commmunity, where you will find a lot of helpful advicies from pet parents and sitter but it’s a different website
No, I really don´t understand if it´s mandatory to buy a membership to start searching a sitter or how it works. I´ve already seen the videos of how it works, but it doesn´t make it clear. What happens if I pay and don´t find a sitter?
It’s necessary to find and contact sitters, yes.
If you can’t find a sitter (2 weeks)
You can start with the BASIC MEMBERSHIP (just check the differences compared to the other plans first), and then upgrade if you find that the platform meets your expectations and needs. Also With any membership, you can get a 25% discount if you’re referred by a current THS user
First off, Sevilla is a wonderful place, so you’re not going to have a problem finding a sitter. Second, it’s hot in the summer, so that could be an issue.
I don’t know how urgent this is. It could take time to find the right sitter and a month is fairly long sit. Some sitters who sit full time schedule stuff several months in advance. There are people sitting from all over and given summer airfares, I’m imagining most people applying will be at least in Europe and coming as part of travel pans. If you’re trip is less than a month away, it might be hard to full. If it is at least a couple of months away, the chances will be better.
You would need to
- Apply and pay for a membership. This involves choosing a tier that makes sense for you.
- Write a “listing” that describes your home and the pet care duties. There are lots of forum threads on “how to do” that and you can also look at other listings to get an idea. You’ll need attractive photos of your home and your pets.
- Post a listing. Once everything is done, you can post a listing with your dates of travel. If you need the sitter to come and overlap with you – include that in your dates.
- Review your applications: Read the application letters. Look at the profiles and reviews of sitters. Decide who seems best. Arrange a video chat with the sitter or sitters you think would work based on what you’ve already seen and read.
- After your chat if you still think this will work and the sitter thinks it will work, you can confirm the sit.
Of course, you’ll have to make sure your home is clean and prepared for your sitter. And you’ll have to have a Welcome Guide to make sure they know how to feed and care for your pets and home.
Sevilla is popular and there aren’t a lot of sits there, so the chance of finding someone suitable are very good unless you need someone really soon.
I agree the THS Home page and subsequent linked pages are very misleading - if you click on “ get started “ it says that there are lots of sitters looking for a sit in your area and then it takes you to a page to sign up for a free account that doesn’t enable you to make a listing .
Hello, @patisporelmundo My name is Aline, and I live in Castellón de la Plana. I’m new to the app and very interested in being a pet sitter for your pets. I love taking care of animals and would be thrilled to have this opportunity.
