If your confirmed sitter begins to have cold fee, do you wait until they communicate they intentions or do you repost the sit. Is there an incubation period or wait time prior to booking your own travel arrangements? Feeling a bit of anxiety about this process. Advice please. You all were so very helpful with the last question. In fact I believe it was this forum advice that helped me get several applications, then confirm one of them.
Thanks again in advance
Hi @Kali. Did this sitter actually press the Agree to Sit button which is the final stage of the confirmation process and it is now showing on your Dashboard? Or is it only you who has hit the Confirm button, in which case the sit is not confirmed between you both? How do you know the sitter/applicant is having cold feet? No communication from them? This makes me think they have not confirmed it from their end.
Did you have a WhatsApp video chat? If so, you have their number so could message or ring to follow up what is the situation so you can move forward and re-post your listing if they are no longer interested.
What’s the reason for the cold feet/doubts, that’s the really important factor you’ve missed out.
Is it because you haven’t booked your trip? If that’s the case, then you’re sitter hasn’t got cold feet/doubts, they are just concerned and rightfully so. So simply book your trip. Otherwise they have no way of knowing that the dates you’ve discussed are 100% accurate, and they could say yes, and then you book your trip and you’re dates could be different by just 1 day, and that huuuuuuugely affects the sitter then. So you need to solidify things first.
What’s the reason for the doubts?
I agree with @temba, also if the sitter hasn’t confirmed and only you have I would be concerned at the lack of communication from the sitter. How long have you been waiting for a response? Go with your gut feeling, these people will be caring for your precious pets. If you aren’t confident in their ability and commitment and they aren’t confirmed consider cancelling and finding a better match.
I am also curious as to whether or not the sitter accepted the sit. If they haven’t due to their “cold feet”, I would have a chat with them to find out what’s up. Their concern could be due to the fact that you have not booked your travel arrangements. Are your dates firm or dependent upon when you schedule travel?
Your title says “confirmed sitter” so I assume the sitter is confirmed.
Communication between owners and sitters is the key to success.
I would call the confirmed sitter to sort out the issues. If the sitter is wishy-washy for whatever unfixable reason, I would suggest that you cancel the arrangement and start over.
You would have to “cancel” the sitter in order to repost your listing dates. Good luck!
Communication, communication, communication…
Maybe you could give us some more information. How do you know the sitter has cold feet? Have they indicated they are not sure about the sit? Have they already accepted or is that what you are waiting for? Or have they not booked their travel to your location? It sounds like you have not booked your trip. Personally, I wouldn’t make my travel arrangements if the HO has not made theirs – too much risk of them cancelling.
I’m sure forum members can give some good advice with a little more info on the situation.
