How to boost posting after sitter canceled?

Hi everyone -

I had a confirmed sitter cancel my sit, about 5 weeks out. I cancelled the confirmation and made sure the listing is live/unpaused. But I’m not getting any more applications - is there a way to boost the listing, or to start from scratch and re-list? (I’ve looked through the archive of questions and wasn’t able to find an answer).

It’s a real bummer because I’m a newby - I had high hopes for this platform, but now am not so sure.

Many thanks! Annette

I saw someone else mention that slightly changing your listing (text, pics etc) would push it back to the top of the new listings. I haven’t seen it myself, but it might be worth a try?

Hi @AnnetteB , welcome to the forum, glad you posted about this. Yes, if you make any kind of edit, your listing will move to the front of the list. If you’re getting close to the deadline and you have a standard or premium membership (somebody check me on this), I think you have one opportunity to boost it. In addition, with your permission, your listing can also be advertised on social media. But fortunately, you still have time. Those are things you can do if your dates are close and you still have no sitter.

I would suggest you add your listing to your forum profile. This will give it more exposure as forum readers will be able to see it and you’ll be able to get helpful feedback.

Don’t worry, you still have plenty of time.

Lol, I did try changing the title slightly today, in the hope that I would make it a “new” listing that gets to the top, I may try doing deeper changes. Thanks!

I don’t know about the listing changes, but I have also seen it recommended here to delete and repost your dates so that they are actually flagged as a new listing. That certainly couldn’t hurt if you don’t have any current applicants!

Hello, @AnnetteB I have just updated the link in your forum profile as it was not the correct one for your THS listing. If you click on your user name you will see the correct link there and other members can now view it and offer helpful feedback and tips! Best of luck to you

@AnnetteB , I think you should consider making the outside photo your first photo or else a picture of Sophie. Have you looked through the list of amenities? THS now gives you the option of listing them and that could help your listing. You might want to go through that list and include the items that you have, e.g. tv, microwave, toaster, shower, parking, etc.

Hi Annette,
I would put the photo of Sophie in mid air as your first photo as it’s a great image!

I agree with others- the Sophie flying pic is a real eye catcher!

Hi Annette, I’m a newbie too (sitter) so am looking at tons of sits.
I’ve had a look at your posting and it looks lovely. If only it was in the UK
Personally, I would reorder your photos so the cat is first (the close up of Sophie looking into the camera is beautiful) - I don’t know about other sitters, but I scroll straight to the pics of the animals as that is what draws me to a specific sit.
Other than that, all sounds wonderful and lovely house and area too.

Even though I’m very new - I am learning that some sits are snapped up last minute, so I wouldn’t panic just yet.

Hi there, do you still sit? had 1 lady cancel for my sits for the summer and she was down to do both.

@Charlyflynn please DM whoever you are trying to connect with but also put your sits back on the site so they can get immediate viewing.

@Charlyflynn you say that your need for a sitter is URGENT but the dates showing on your listing are for November 2023 and February 2024 - are there other dates that you haven’t listed or have you found someone for your URGENT dates ?

If you are unhappy with the reason the sitter gave for cancelling both sits you can advise THS member services who keep a record of cancelled sits .

Hello, Yes I have now found a lovely sitter for both sets of dates.

@Charlyflynn that’s fantastic news! :clap:t2::slightly_smiling_face:
