How to get good pictures of cats?

For me, it’s all about lighting and getting down on the floor (or the bed) to cat level. Also, closeups!

Totally depends on the cat although it’s easier when they learn to trust you and are calm.

Lots of good advice already! I always try to get some head shots and I used to zoom in to get these. However, I have recently learnt in a photography talk that you should never zoom but take the photo and then crop so as not to lose definition. Here are some from my most recent sits.

I agree it’s not easy with cats. I usually call their name to get their attention and have a treat on hand. Still doesn’t always work out but I was quite chuffed with this one.

I’ve had good luck doing a video. Then edit the video, pause, screen shot, then crop
