How to ‘Search’ for a Sitter

We have a trip planned for September and have not yet confirmed with a sitter.

I have always relied on sitters responding to the dates we post on the site. This hasn’t worked in our favour for this trip. I haven’t ‘searched’ for a sitter before now and I’m not sure how that works.

There are sitters living locally but I’m not sure why I would want to ask them to consider sitting for us. Why would they? Am I missing something about this?

Advice on this would be very grateful.

Hi @TheDockers I have attached a link to advise how you can reach out to sitters. It’s worth inviting people who are local to you as well as sitters from other countries because people sit for many various reasons. Some like a change of scenery perhaps in their “local” area, others miss having animals for company. I would try a mix of local and foreign invitations.

I have also attached a thread you might like to have a look at

For reference, you can also add your TrustedHousesitters profile on to your Forum profile by following the attached link, should you wish. This will then enable others to offer you helpful advice and feedback and will also give your listing extra exposure!

If you are unsure how to do this, or if you have any questions at all, do not hesitate to ask, we are all more than happy to help.

Also, remember you can use the spyglass symbol at the top of the page next to the TrustedHousesitters logo and search for any questions that you may have as they have most likely already been answered on here and of course if not then please just ask!
