I am a newbie here on TH and have a question about choosing applicants. Our job was filled quickly and I accepted a sitter, but I am still getting at least two applications a day. Is this normal? How do I ‘turn off’ the listing? How does the listing show that it has been filled? Thank you for any help you can give, community!
Hello @Willowbar and welcome to the forum and to TrustedHousesitters. There are a few steps to be done by both sides before a sit is truly confirmed/booked. Once done, the listing automatically closes. I’ll add the steps here and you can check it over.
I’m guessing your sitter has yet to confirm the sit. If that’s the case, please contact them. If you need any assistance, please let us know.

Sounds like the sit has not been confirmed.
There are multiple steps to finalize the process: sitters apply (you as HO then select which application you want); application confirmed (by you as HO); then, sit agreed (by the sitter).
Your dates will then be removed and replaced with: Currently no sitter needed.
Hi @PetSitterBug once the sit has been accepted by the sitter, the listing is removed and not visable again until after the sit has been completed. Its at that point the listing reappears with a heading “currently no sitter needed” (or something similar…)
Thank you so much for the help! That was the problem! All fixed now!

Hello Katy (@Willowbar), welcome and thanks for feeding back. We are glad you have this all sorted now and your first sitter has been confirmed.
Have you seen the option to create a Welcome Guide?
This would be your next step, so that your sitter has all the important information about your home and pets, always to hand. It does help us sitters to have this ahead of a sit to see if it prompts any questions - even if these are covered in pre sit conversations. It also helps busy handover days go smoothly!
As you seen, our community is extremely helpful so if you have any further questions don’t hesitate to reach out.
All the best, Vanessa and the team
