I just signed up with THS and am still working on my profile. I travel a lot with my wife as a YouTube content creator and hope to find sittings I can do to cut down on my accommodation expenses. We have always had pets: dogs, cats, birds, fish, turtles, crocodiles, quatamondi, monkeys, night walkers, chickens, rats, owls, horses and the list goes on. In other words, we love animals.
Presently, I am in Cambodia and hope to find some pet sitting jobs in this neck of the woods as soon as I finish my profile and the required stuff. Later on, I am open to anywhere else in the world to take good care of your pets.

Crocodiles? They are not pets…I doubt you’ll find sits in Cambodia but, good luck!

Hi, welcome to THS. There are three sits advertised in Phnom Penh at the moment.

Welcome and well done for joining the THS community my top tips
- Spend a few dozen hours reading various threads on this forum- it’s like doing a crash course in ‘how to/how not to’….
- Start creating favourites list for early notifications also save some specific searches. Learn what time to look for new listings time zones matter regarding this. A few favoured locations fill up with x5 applications within minutes and are locked to new applications.
- Develop skills in spotting red flags in a HO advert, create a list of dealbreakers for you. Determine your list of questions ready for the zoom chat/phone call with the HO.
- Do one or two local short sits first to get some five star reviews landed….
- Be clear in your profile what you’re offering HOs, what your USP is. There’s a lot of competition for a few locations.
- Read the Terms and Conditions VERY carefully- you’ll not be able to make YT content about your sit without specific permission from the HOs.
- Calculate arrival time and leaving time logistics and be realistic re the HO dates.
- Have a Plan B if the HO cancels on you- it happens.
Good luck

Welcome to forum @DougPVlogs !
Petsitting might not be the topic on your accounts, but I always ask permission whether it is ok to use photos of pets in social media, and ofc never use photos of the home or mention name/adress. More important if part of a business. Re BonnyinBrighton says in no. 6 over.
There are most opportunities in UK and USA, followed by Europe/ Australia I would say. In other parts of the world opportunities exist but are limited (and competition can be fierce
). But all it requires is a good match so can certainly happen.
Much to learn from topics on forum - great way to get and have good sits.
Best of luck!

When I read content creator I think you will be using the sits to create content but I hope not. A lot of content creators would use the house, pets and area as content. This is against policy and the privacy of the PP must be upheld. Also if you are out making content, how much time are you spending with the pets? You say you want to do this to cut down travel costs when you and your wife travel for her YouTube channel. The animals should come first! This is why I like ring cameras. You see the time the sitter leaves the house and returns. I’m a sitter but if I was the PP, I would want to know my fur babies are not left alone an unreasonable amount of time.

I actually had a crocodile as a pet. It’s not the pet you hang out with but you have fun feeding it. I do not want to housesit any cracks anyway. LoL

I did see those. One might be a fit fit for me but two are no good as I have an apartment rented right now.
great information, thank you. What is USP? I do not want to make any YouTube containing anything about the pets or home I am staying in.

I absolutelly have no interest in filming the pets and would never show any houses for security purposes. I have noticed not many Asia sits. USA, Canada and Europe are low on my list of vlogging locations but would come in handy if I go to save some $.

Vlogging does not take a lot of time when you know what you are doing. I have no interest in filming pets and I never show homes where I am for security purposes. The pets naturally are first and foremost followed by the homes care.

Glad to hear. I spent 2020 in a town that was on lockdown. I watched many YouTube channels then and they would talk about how filming and editing is like having a 24 hour business. They also filmed every place they were at.
Good luck!
Thing is, most sits are in the regions you mention here, very few are in Asia and both those and the Australian ones are extremely coveted. The 5 application rule means that you have to be as fast as a crocodile snapping its prey to send in yours, sometimes the spots are gone within MINUTES of the listing appearing.
Try and create a solid profile and application; I wouldn’t even mention that you want to housesit to save on rent, some HO’s don’t love that aspect. The fact that you are already in Asia may play in your favour as you are already geographically closer to the country in question.
Happy sitting!

A unique selling point USP is what makes you stand out from the thousands of other sitters. Our USP is familiarity with the two locations house sit in.
You should use the Map function to see where most sits are located.
I already do that whenever I travel. I use Google Street View and know the area I am staying in quite well before I get there.
I meant the search Map via the app ….
