I only want to leave a review if HO does

Will we still be notified that a review has been left for us–not seeing its contents, of course–but just notification there is a review? I don’t want to review a HO unless she reviews me. Not a great experience.

Why what happened ? You can leave a review , it’s a blind review until both parties leave a review or after the 14 days pass

I received notice from THS after my latest host reviewed me, before I got to writing my review. I received a five-star review and got a cheery notice from THS. It made me wonder what kind of THS messaging you’d get if you’d received a bad review, LOL.

I haven’t sat since the new system went up. Are you saying you could see it was a 5-star review before you wrote your review? That’s NOT a blind review.

Yes I’ve only had 5 star reviews with the new review system . You get an email notification once you receive review and email does reference 5 star review. Not sure what email says if you get fewer stars

I just searched my old emails and see that I received notice of a blind review and on the same day received notice of a five-star review, with a request to review THS on TrustPilot. I don’t know if everyone receives some version of the latter.

… In real time, I saw only the second email, with mention of the five-star review. I don’t know why I didn’t see the first email. I might’ve overlooked it, because I get a lot of email.

I saw mention of the five-star review before I wrote mine, though it had no influence on me — I’d already planned to give my host five stars. It was a terrific sit, and if she’d rated me poorly, I would’ve been disappointed, but it would not have changed the sit as I experienced it.

I regularly rec’d notices of 5-star reviews in the old system–before I reviewed. I don’t want to know if I got 5 stars, I only want to know if she has reviewed me so I can review her as well.

I think we were mutually unhappy with each other. If it is not necessary, I would rather not have to go into it. Nothing dangerous, just general rudeness and unreasonable expectations.

Yes, in the previous system, you were notified that you’d been reviewed. I am asking if that will continue.

No, you cannot see it, it looks like this:

A bit like a computer game: “Shoot at the right moment to get 5 stars!”

Wow, that completely undermines the notion of a blind review. I believe that this didn’t influence your review, but for many it would, especially if it was not a 5* review (and perhaps this message only happens when the review is 5, but once people know that, they’ll be able to read between the lines when they get a notice of a review, but not the follow up 5* congratulations).

I could be wrong, but this one looks like it mentions a recent “five star sit” not a five star review, and it’s asking you to review THS on TrustPilot. So I don’t think it is actually telling you that the HO left you a review. That’s my interpretation. Maybe moderators could confirm?

It’s either a defect or that second email pertains to a different review or your reviews in general that was left and coincidentally was sent at the same time.

The first email would have pertained to your most recent sit.

Second looks like TH is just asking you to review them on trust pilot bc you’ve gotten 5 star reviews.

Might be worth tagging a moderator to ask…is this a defect or just a coincidence?

Like @pietkuip, I only got the first email pertaining to my latest sit until I’d also submitted feedback.

Assuming the new review system is working, the only way that scenario happens is if you do not post a review BEFORE the HO does within the 14-day window AND they choose to post a review.

If you post a review before you get a notification that a review has been submitted, there’s no way to guarantee that the HO will submit a review.

It will look like @Maggie8K ‘s first email or the gif that @pietkuip posted.

I.e. wait till you get that email and if you don’t, don’t post a review.

How does one tag a moderator?

I had a notification of a review (without it saying anything about stars) and then 12 hours later, the notification of a five-star review. I am 99% sure the 2nd email was triggered by my review.

In my case, I definitely didn’t write my review till after receiving the second THS email, about the five-star sit. That’s because I knew I had two weeks and hadn’t planned to review till after Christmas, when I was less busy. But once I saw that email, I reviewed, because I thought it would be rude to keep my host waiting, since she’d already reviewed me.

@Avatuidiego if you click the About tab at the top of the page you’ll see the two community managers and the two moderators.

@Maggie8K, too… if that’s the case, may be worth escalating to support so they can check this?

I figure if it was just weird timing coincidence or a glitch on THS’s part, other sitters will flag to them. Because of time zone differences, who knows what’s going on.

I also have a sit starting within days now, so I’ll see what unfolds with that review — if I get both emails as well and in the same day, as I did those two with this sit.

With my most recent sit, I had no expectations of being notified at all, other than maybe a warning of time running out at the end of the two weeks, post sit.
