I want to be a pet sitter and I don't know if I should pay or not? (Quiero ser cuidadora de mascotas y no se si debo pagar o no?)

I want to know if they take me into account without paying membership.
I want to take care of pets and I want to know if I have to pay compulsorily, I am in Argentina.

Yes you have to pay to join THS, it’s not a free pet sitting service. Look on Facebook for free pet sitting groups.

Hello @Delicia

If you want to take care of pets in your own country , then I would not recommend you joining Trustedhousesitters.

Petsitting opportunities in South America on this site are rare.

Hi there,
I agree with @Colin - Trusted House Sitters is a British site, with very few pet-sits found outside of the U.K, U.S, Canada, Australia & New Zealand. You would have much better luck using local Facebook groups or perhaps even ‘Workaway.’
Hope that helps!

@Delicia no, you cannot be a house/pet sitter on Trusted Housesitters without being a fully paid member. So in answer to your question - yes, paying is compulsory on THS and no they won’t take you without paying membership, you won’t even have the ability to apply for sits without being a fully paid member.

We joined THS in early 2023 and we love it! It’s a brilliant lifestyle.

I look at it this way - if I had to spend one night in a hotel in my own city, it would be three times the price of a Trusted Housesitters Membership. Even if you do one sit in your own country or elsewhere, you’ve got your money’s worth so I definitely think it’s worth a try. As others have mentioned, there aren’t a lot of sits in South America but the homeowners may lean towards sitters that are local rather than looking for sitters further afield.

Out of curiosity, I took a quick look for sits in South America (the entire continent). There is currently 1 active listing, located in Ecuador.

There are exactly 171 past listings (with a current membership) in South America in the history of THS.

Don’t know if that helps, but I was curious

Unless you want to sit outside of South America, I wouldn’t even bother paying for the membership.
Have a look at a Facebook pet sitters page in your area or country and start from there.
