What do the blurred, soft grey hearts to the L of “reply” at the bottom of postsmean and why , when clicked on do I see an int’l , “no” symbol ?

Do you mean the heart as shown on the left of this image?
If so, you should be able to hover on the heart and see a small selection of emoji to react to a post with.
Are you able to show a screenshot of what you’re seeing if it’s different to this?

Why don’t the emoji responses just show up like the others (full colour, etc.) on the other side (farther left) ? It is as if they are secret or anonymous here in the grey with the no symbol. Thanks !
Took me ages to realise you could hold your finger on the heart and select a different emoji (from the limited selection). Still very easy to select the wrong one by mistake @toreishi. We definitely need a ‘totally confused’ emoji,

Are you saying that yours are grayed out, father than looking like this when you drop down all of the emojis? What device and browser are you using? Are you on the app pr website? If you’re on the app, is it updated to the latest version?
Sometimes there might be hiccups related to the above, which is annoying, but not necessarily considered fix-worthy by companies, because there are always more issues than they can address, given so many variables and limited manpower, even at the largest companies.
Tangentially, I’ve had an emoji bug off and on for about two years, since I joined the forum – when I tap on an emoji, it often offers me only the heart and often when I click it, it doesn’t stay on. instead, it pops off right away. I figured it might be related to one of the above reasons and ignore when it happens.
