In search of housesits with wildlife

I’m a nature and wildlife photographer who not only enjoys photographing your pets during a housesit but also having the opportunity to photograph the local wildlife on your property.

If you are have a property where the wildlife regularly visits, either to drink from a pond or eat at a feeding station, then I’d love to hear from you.

As you can see from the photos, I like to create woodland scenes from old logs, moss or whatever is hanging around the garden and attract the animals to it using nuts and seeds etc. However, I would only want to do this at a property which is already feeding the wildlife rather than creating a habit with the animals that isn’t going to be continued.

I’m not asking to be given preference for a sit but just to be provided with a link to your profile so I can save it as a favourite.

As there is currently no tick box option for squirrels, chipmunks, field mice and deer etc., the only way I can currently tell if there is wildlife visiting a property is if someone specifically mentions it.

Thanks in advance
Susan

PS I always provide the HO’s with copies of my photographs of their pets and wildlife.

Hi Susan @PawsomePetsitters

I think admin might want you to remove your email address from your post, but people could still send you links to sits by the Direct Message function on the forum.

I’m a sitter, but will try to send you any that I spot. I am fairly sure I may have a few saved as favourites as we love watching wildlife, and I’m likely to have saved any sits that mentioned it. I’ll have a look at some point but I suspect I have rather a lot of favourites to trawl through! I’m sure there is one where one of the responsibilities was “putting food out for the badgers”. Dates have not matched up yet, otherwise we would definitely have applied!

Thanks Debbie, I did wonder if an email would be allowed but have removed it

Fabulous photos! I would suggest that almost any sit in rural England (particularly houses that are somewhat isolated in the countryside) will offer ample opportunities for wildlife spotting.

There are many many of these sits across the UK.

We have seen deer in the garden, hedgehogs, red squirrels, kites, hawks, adders, slow worms and many more!

Good luck!

Hi Susan
Your photos are wonderful but, having read your profile, it surprises me that you haven’t added the fact that photography is a hobby and, in particular, photographing wildlife. I think you would be snapped up (pardon the pun) by some owners who would appreciate photos of their pets or visiting wildlife. So I recommend you add that, although see that it’s mentioned in your photos.

Yes, I wrote that a few years ago and definitely need to update it.

Great photos!! We have awesome wildlife spotting at our home in Northern California. I’d love to have someone take better photos than I can of all the critters here. I specifically mention birdwatching in our listing and even made a Bloomfield Bird Bingo card for sitters :joy: We joke when we go on wildlife spotting vacations that we see more at home than on our trips. You can see many types of raptors, songbirds, vultures, hummingbirds, great blue herons, owls, etc. pretty much daily from and in our garden. Yesterday I watched this redheaded sapsucker feeding in our toyon. We also see foxes, raccoons, skunks, opossums, harmless snakes, squirrels, and sometimes (but thankfully not too often as we have livestock) bobcats and cougars. Nearby you could spot bald eagles, river otters, and sea lions, even whales. We have two trips coming up and I’m about to post for March-April, so feel free to favorite our listing if it suits you!
