If they had made a mistake, they would have corrected it by now instead of just “monitoring”. But I love your innocence @Debbie
I dunno @anon47943759, I’m not sure owning up to mistakes is their thing! Once it’s done they don’t like to change it!
Or maybe we need to pay for a bigger box?!
@Debbie don’t start giving them ideas!
I was thinking the same thing @Debbie
Small, Medium or Large text box depending on your subscription?
Oh help, I haven’t written an application in about a month and just noticed the new application box: way too small!!
And the new inbox is not exactly reading friendly either versus the old one. Without reading all 105 replies, is there a way to revert to the old inbox?
I don’t see that anywhere in or around my Inbox. Would love to know how to go back to the old one… this new inbox & application window both aren’t doing it for me after 10 years on this platform.
Not to say the previous versions were perfect…far from, but this seems worse!
Some things I also just noticed are:
- When applying for a sit, the application box does not show whether you’ve been in touch with that HO before!! I just applied for a sit, only to find out afterwards that at some point in the past I already reached out to that HO.
Previously this would show right away when applying; now I only found out AFTER applying. Very annoying, because I can’t edit the message I just sent; only withdraw it and start again (plus they’re already at 5 applicants, so not sure it would still send in the new one as an actual application)
- My inbox now shows the OLDEST message first. Only by going into my inbox did I find out that I already contacted this host in the past, but then I could not find the message I’d just sent. Turns out the inbox shows the oldest message first and you have to scroll down to see the latest message. This is very inconvenient!
I have had to resort to writing, editing, and proofreading my application in my email app, then copying and pasting that. I can’t work with the small text box.
Hi @Carla , I don’t know of this has already been reported, but yesterday I noticed another ‘flaw’ with the new mini-inbox (and yes, the size is unworkable although that has already been mentioned).
I applied for a sit yesterday. I knew I’d seen that particular listing before.
I did however not realize while applying that I’d already been in touch with that HO at some point in the past (I’ve been a member for 9.5 years; don’t remember every interaction with HOs) because the application box didn’t show me.
Previously upon applying, it would ALWAYS show if you’d already reached out to that HO before.
Thus the silly thing happened where I applied as if I’d never been in touch with this HO before
And only AFTER my message had been sent, the inbox showed that I had already submitted an application in the past and received a brief response from that HO.
It was not possible to edit my response accordingly. E.g. it wasn’t exactly good form to send in an application as if it was the first time we were in touch.
So the only option would have been to withdraw, but as the sit had already reached 5 applicants, I would lose my spot and in case >5 people managed to apply, I’m not sure that a resubmitted response would have been marked as an application.
So this is clearly a flaw with the new mini-inbox: it doesn’t show previous interactions!!
- That means a sitter now has to go and search through their Inbox first before applying, just to make sure they have not already been in touch with the HO in the past.
- However the search function in the Inbox has disappeared, so that would mean manual scrolling through all HOs they’ve been in touch with
- And otherwise they’re at risk of submitting an application that does not acknowledge previous interactions
This is not workable…
I have not found a way to return to the old Inbox, but I would do so right away if possible. Not only does it have a good sized application field, AND despite the shortcomings of the old Inbox has superior readability, but it also shows me past interactions with an HO BEFORE I hit the Submit button for a new application.
Please report this issue as well
Hello @Bluehorse Thank you for your feedback. This was previously reported by @Globetrotter higher up the thread and has been passed to the Product team. Any updates I will post back here. Thank you & Happy Friday
Is this another ‘feature’ of the new inbox? I just got an invite over xmas and the message was so faded out, I couldnt read it. We are NOT booked over that period. If it is an ‘enhancement’ can anyone let me know its purpose?
It was in the app, which I use almost exclusively.
It is the new THS vision test. If you can read the message you qualify to submit an application.
Or maybe THS are going to charge an additional fee to enable you to actually read the message?
@Brightlight Thank you for sharing your screenshot of your faded message. I checked in with the Product team (and double checked my app) there are no updates that should make this happen. Are you able to reach out to Membership Services so they can troubleshoot the issue with you. Thank you
This same thing is happening to me, too, on the app.
So I have noticed a change in the inbox on the app - don’t think this was announced anywhere ?
When I apply to a sit the conversation doesn’t appear in my inbox -
Previously if I applied that started a conversation which appeared in my inbox . Not anymore .
I can converse with the homeowner whilst I have an application- but now I have withdrawn my application my conversation doesn’t appear anywhere so I can’t contact that owner again or message them .
I was giving some advice to a new owner and we were having a conversation- it turned out that the sit wasn’t going to be suitable for us but I was making some suggestions which the owner appreciated since they are new to the site . I withdrew my application so as not to block anyone else from applying . Now I can’t see or continue the conversation with the owner .I am loathed to apply again just to continue the conversation.
This is on the app ( where there is no option to switch back to an older version )
I suspect the intention by THS is to stop sitters applying/withdrawing just to establish contact with an HO for the future?
Not such a good idea. Sitters will just not withdraw their application anymore, and the HOs will get fewer than five serious applicants.
Just to advise that I am still switching to my old Inbox everytime.
This is the message shown at the very top of the screen:
Welcome to your new inbox! We hope you enjoy it. For a limited time, if you’re having issues you can switch back to the old inbox.
Maybe the members who are having difficulty with the new one can switch to the old one which may overcome their present issues with communication
After I decline an invitation, I get the pop up do you want to send a message? I always say yes and I always send a message
I can see my message on the app and in the old inbox, but they were not visible in the new inbox.
I nearly bombarded a whole group of people apologising for being rude, but no, I was fine, it’s JUST another issue with the new inbox .
Hello everyone
Thank you for all of your valuable feedback about the new inbox. We wanted to make sure your voices were heard and questions answered, so we passed all of the feedback to the Product Team and here is the most recent update:
-
The App inbox is the same as before and nothing has been updated - the new desktop inbox was designed to align with the app. Therefore you should not see any differences in the app inbox as nothing was changed. If you are having any issues with the app inbox please let Membership Services know as they can access your account and troubleshoot with you.
-
Being able to revert to the old inbox will be retired in 2 weeks on the 16th of July 2024. We know that some of you have found it useful to be able to revert back to the old inbox and we have made sure that the Product team are aware of why. The team have been monitoring this closely and wanted to give members a few weeks to adjust to the new inbox.
After monitoring this since the new inbox launch currently around 100 members are converting back daily, with the rest of the members using the inbox sticking to the new one and not converting back. -
The team will continue to monitor the size of the website message box (for applications & messaging) and any changes we will let you know. For reassurance, the app message box was not changed and is the same size as it was previously.
-
The popular search function feedback has been passed on and any updates we will let you know.
I hope that helps answer some questions. We are more than happy to pass any feedback that hasn’t been covered by this update onto the team and will keep you posted if we hear anything else.
Thank you
Carla.
