I’m currently still a Standard Member, but when my membership renews in early December, I’m definitely planning to upgrade to Premium.
I’m now considering upgrading to Premium already, as this is apparently possible.
My question is about the lounge passes: If I upgrade now, would I receive the lounge passes for the remainder of this membership year immediately, and then receive another two new passes when my membership renews in December?
Or would I simply have two lounge passes available from now until my next renewal in 2027?

Yes you can upgrade now and will be charged pro rata up until when your current membership expires.
When you upgrade you will get 2 lounge passes available immediately when you upgrade.
Then if you continue your membership each year on the anniversary of the date you upgraded another two passes become available .
This is my understanding as I previously THS this question. I don’t work for THS and member services don’t read or respond directly to the forum .So for confirmation from THS you would have to e-mail or try live chat with a human not Frankie
I checked in with the team about this, and they’ve let me know:
"If you were to upgrade to Premium now, you would have two lounge passes available to book before your renewal date.
The passes themselves can be used after your renewal date, but the bookings would need to be made with us before your renewal date in December.
Once your renewal takes place in December, your allowance will refresh and you’ll then have a further two lounge passes available to use before your 2027 renewal date."
