Low Applications everywhere

I was just browsing the THS website. The global map.
Did you notice that ALL the listing have now the LOW APPLICATIONS badge?
Every one.
I looked the first ones showed by the random listing.
Then I switched to Europe. All the first listed, with the badge.
Then I switched to Spain. All the listings, with the badge.
Maybe if we are looking at numbers, there are still a lot of owners here.
But how many sitters? Isn’t this enough to THS admin to change their mind and reconsider the booking fee policy?
ALL the listings now open are suffering a low applications situation.

Or maybe they are going to solve this disabling the LOW APPLICATIONS badge and that’s all?

I’m not quite understanding @giuvax by what you are meaning. So If I set the searches for newest first there are still multiple before the low applications show. I must admit that I have been thinking myself and am astounded at the high number of sits available, in good areas including the London area e.g. What would have gone in minutes or hours now seem to be going to low applications for a very long time. :person_shrugging:

This is my HomePage, when I go to THS.

you can see that the first 2 listings are low applications.
But they go on, if I scroll down. Thy are all Low applications.

Then I select Europe, and this it what I get:

As you can see, all the listings on the left are Low applications (and more, if I scroll down).

And on. If I go on Italy, Spain, France…

But that view and the listings shown are only really examples that THS has chosen to show in the hope of people noticing them first, that is intentional. There are obviously way too many listings to show on the map view so they have used the low applications as their examples. The purpose of the world map is to show the breakdown of the various locations, countries etc so you can search the location/country you are interested in, hence the numbers on the map. The overall large worldwide map is there to show the numbers and areas of what is available throughout the entire world. It’s only a view. It’s up to the sitter to then zoom into areas of the map to find the area and dates they are looking for or set date and location parameters. Hope I am understanding your post and responded accurately :folded_hands:

As @ziggy mentions, you have to set your search for “Newest” first in the drop down box marked “Sort by”

Have you done that?

I have two listings this summer. One has been filled. I’ve had about 20 applications for the other one, my listing always shows ‘low applications’ or ‘reviewing’ when the five limit is reached. It seems the default is ‘low applications’ but it’s not true.

@Wend that is very interesting

That would annoy me as an HO and put me off as a sitter. The “low applications” badge is like the sale rail of sits in my psyche so it makes me automatically think it’s not a prime sit. Wonder why it does that? Happy you have loads of applicants though @Wend. #morequirks

I agree with you, it looks bad as far as I’m concerned.

I am getting loads of applications, however, it’s a bit frustrating that the main thing we’re looking for is being ignored. We’re asking for a Mature couple, lots of reviews on the THS platform and its not suitable for children. I’ve had single people, families and most of them with just a couple of reviews. Plenty of time to find the right sitters, so no worries.

@Wend I read your listing and can totally understand your frustration at the responses you are receiving. You couldn’t be any clearer about your requirements on your listing.

As an owner too, and as somebody living in Majorca and often looking for sits in the peninsula (taking advantage of the island residents discount), I can offer you my opinion.
We are more cat people, though we often made sits as sitters with dogs (our first big sit on THS was about two giant mountain dogs in Portugal). We were also in Almeria in July with two giant different dogs. We accepted because there was no walking needed since they had a huge land.

Walking dogs - in your case three! - in July half an hour is not something easy to deal with.

In Almeria there were 35-40 degrees minimum during the day, maybe 25 in the early hours of the morning.
If there was no walking involved or just cats to take care of I would have applied (well, I couldn’t because my double membership expires march 3rd, but in theory).

There is no requirement to walk them in July and August. Thanks I’ll adjust my listing. I do discuss this over video but it might put people off. We are getting lots of applications so the right one is out there.

Hi @Wend,
I just had a look at your listing and I wonder why the departure is set to 10am. Given the fact that the arrival time is very flexible, I am inclined to think that you are probably unaware of this or do you really expect the sitter to arrive at 10 am sharp.

I am just asking this because there’s a general feeling that some of the new features are either useless or even counterproductive.

Anyone know how to block a member?

I’ve changed the arrival time 12-14:00 We’re flexible. I’ve put 10 as the time the sitter can leave but also flexible.

I’ve removed all the times now. We’re flexible on arrival and departure.

How does a HO get 40 applicants when the software pauses applicants at 5? Do they go through 8 rounds of applicants before choosing one?

There’s no way the booking fees, which have just started to roll out gradually a few weeks ago will have that sort of effect on the sitter membership base.

We just listed a set of dates earlier today and the applicant que was full within the hour as it usually is. With 5 applicants, not 40.
