That’s what I meant. That the HO may be flexible but forcing them to set a time may give a totally wrong impression: sitters may refrain from applying if they think expectations are unreasonable or the HO is not detail oriented, while, the more random additions and changes THS make, the more likely it is to make wrong assumptions.
“To be agreed later” is probably the best option unless there’s clearly a time frame that is non negotiable.
I expect they declined many applications which allowed them to reset the counter each time. If lots of people applied who didn’t fit the specific profile of sitter described, it would’ve been an easy decline.
@giuvax, for what it’s worth we’ve not observed this at all.
But, to be fair, we largely use the Saved Search and Favourites features. Quite possible that scrolling method prioritizes ‘low application’ listings as THS could be reasonably profile listings (i.e. few applications) that help both pet parents and housesitters.
Also possible that quite a few Pet Parents are now starting to book summer vacations and adding related listings. We were approached yesterday in regards fall/autumn sit so guess some people are starting to plan 2026 trips.
Yes I’m aware of that. But when you decline the five you then get five more and so on. As I said previously my problem is the wrong applicant. Not lack of applications.
If you tap OnTheRoadAgain on this reply, a small window pops up. Tap OnTheRoadAgain on that small window and a bigger window pops up. On the right side of that bigger window, there are 2 boxes. The box that’s hard to read says Normal if you’re seeing this reply. Tap that box and you’ll have the choice of Normal, Muted or Ignored. Pick your preference. Ignored is the setting closest to blocking someone.
@Wend it must be so frustrating weeding out people who don’t bother to read your listing properly or alternatively think they can talk you round when you state clearly what you want. The downside of a Spanish location I guess. Good luck, hope the right couple come along soon.
I am in the U.S., and even in this deteriorating country where one might expect applications to have dropped off I see many listings with 3+ applicants. Of course, once they hit 5 the listing is no longer seen under “available sits,” so I’m guessing what you’re seeing is the usual “low applications” when they haven’t been listed very long.
