Just out of curiosity, are both members accounts suspended during a dispute?
@Hallt64 Good question! They possibly should be, since one might assume the more injured party is the one whoâs initiated the dispute.
Currently on a sit (non THS) where the owner never disclosed until we arrived that the dogs tend get an upset tummy when anxious. Itâs week 2 of a 2 month sit. One of the dogs has been having multiple accidents in the house every day for a week now, and weâve had X2 trips to the vet and administering meds etc⌠this is not what we signed up for, and are currently not at all impressed. At this point I feel like I should be paid for doing this⌠we have barely even left the house this week because we have to monitor her, etc. If the owners had simply disclosed this, there could have been preventive measures taken before we even arrived that would have helped not only us, but also the heath & happiness of the dog. Please for the love of all things pets, people, always fully disclose your petâs behaviours & health issues on your listing and in video calls with potential sitters, and be 100% honest. Please ![]()
I would have thought, out of fairness and impartiality, both should receive the same treatment, until THS has heard both sides
That will never happen, some owners may divulge issues but a lot wonât, knowing this would restrict their pool of applicants.
Doesnât sound like a fantastic sit, hope it starts to improve soon, two months is a long long time. Two weeks is our limit!
Yeah, I really hope we can turn this around - itâs also not good for the dog and we see that she is becoming more & more lethargic and doesnât want to play much - of course, if youâve been having continual accidents multiple times a day, any human or animal would be feeling a bit weak ![]()
At this point, if things donât start to improve, weâre going to have to have a serious chat with them and they need to figure out a better solution. Some pets just really donât cope well with the absence of their owner, and just are not a good fit for pet-sitting.
These owners also left the house quite grubby and I had to spend a whole day cleaning after they left. The fridge was awful and full of all their food, oven is unusable because itâs too gross for me to touch, canât sit on the couch because X4 pets use it as their bed and is FULL of hair that is impossible to vacuum off⌠Just not a great sit and I donât know if we can last the whole 2 months at this point ![]()
Fully agree with the pet potentially pining for its owner, we used to have two dogs that would have fretted badly if we went away without them. Whilst we had the dogs, we holidayed in the UK with them, had some great holidays and met some fantastic people in the process. And made great memories.
I would maybe contact the owner sooner rather than later and see their response, a week is a long time for an upset tummy
If itâs an ongoing situation, it might be much more than simply pining for the PPs.
And that might be a cover-up for an ongoing health or behavioural condition.
If it wasnât mentioned in the listing, itâs not something you should be dealing with.
Good luck, whatever you decide to do.
Thanks. Itâs frustrating, because as sitters of 4 years, itâs not like we canât spot red flags in a video call or donât ask the right questions. Some people just straight up hide things ![]()

@Silversitters Thank you for clarifying further. That all makes sense. We have not had a response from THS yet so we will now go ahead and raise a member dispute today ![]()
@Hallt64 We have not been informed if the other member has been suspended as well. I agree they should be until all sides are heardâŚ
@Nagy26 What a horrible situation. I really feel for you. (And for the poor doggy) I do hope you can find a good resolution and that the owners will be fully cooperative. Good luck ![]()
Thanks. The vet is going to try and take a sample & see if she has a bladder infection (from stress) - if thatâs the route of the problem, then hopefully she can be prescribed meds and itâll clear up soon. Otherwise, if itâs just purely anxiety, something else will have to be figured out, because obviously it canât go on like this for 2 months.
@Nagy26 And you should not be expecred to deal with that either. All too much. And a dirty home too. Not good.
@Hallt64 Iâve now found out the other party has not been suspendedâŚ
We will be submitting our member dispute today.
Do you know whatâs hilarious? This morning I called the vet (because weâve tried but itâs impossible to take a pee sample!) so weâre bringing her in for the vet to do it. Vet said she shouldnât pee until the appointment & should drink a lot of water (how can I possibly control this!? If she has to pee, she will pee!) and also if we can taker her by car to the vet so she doesnât pee on the way (not possible for us) and then she said try not to let her pee then on the 20 min walk to the vet and if possible pick her up and carry her⌠Itâs a 20kg husky dog, and she knows this
Is she crazy!?
@Nagy26 will owner pay for taxi to transport sick dog to vet ? I also hope that the owners have an account set up with the vet ?
Not to be gross, but I had to do this before. I always bring a few pairs of disposable gloves with me on every sit so I can use them when I clean. They were useful here. I used a long handled saucepan on a short walk and I held it underneath as it started to go. I poured into the bottle the vet gave me. Dumped rest in toilet, filled pot with bleach and water, rinsed a dozen times before I put in dishwasher on itâs own.
PS: Yes, I had hosts permission to use this pan and explained how I cleaned it. They thought it was overkill, but we are who we are.
I would probably have thought it was better if the HO would not know that it had been used for veterinary purposes ![]()
Ha. I ran it by the owner first because I didnât want to decide. He thought it was a brilliant idea, thought I went overboard with cleaning it. But, as you can probably tell by my other posts, Iâm a bit of germaphobe, so clean it was.
