I wanted to share about our experiences pet sitting. It’s been much more than just caring for wonderful pets in fantastic locations as we’ve traveled the world since September. We’ve developed many friendships!
We had about a week between sit #12 on the island of Crete and sit #13 on the island of Jersey. We went to see some friends from Montana who are stationed near Cambridge, UK. We’ve kept in touch with several of the people we sat for and we were invited to dinner at the new home of first people we sat for near Cambridge. We were also invited to stay a night with and have dinner with another couple we sat for in Southampton the next night.
We feel that we’ve developed long term friendships with people around the world and have really enjoyed that aspect of our sits.
@Danandnan isn’t this just the greatest connection for finding new friends (both furry and human)? I feel blessed to be a part of such an amazing group!
I totally agree! One of our very first sits was for a local couple when we first joined. We’ve become great friends and have looked after their dog going on seven years now. We get together for dinner occasionally. We’ve met wonderful people since we joined!
This for me has been a tremendous blessing. I too have been graced by meeting some extraordinary people I would never have had the opportunity to meet had I stayed in my previous life.
Home and pet sitting can be done anyway you like for a never ending number of reasons. None is “right” or “wrong”, better or worse. You make of it what you wish.
For me, I have said numerous times, this is far more than anything I expected.
It is everything I desire, love.
Yep I said the L word.
I treasure every moment, place, person, plant, animal, tasty bite, the flights, the coach rides, the challenges on stairs, long queues, nights of “oh my what now? ”
I am reminded I am still alive and there is goodness in this world.
Even when the WiFi isn’t reliable.

It’s a beautiful hobby and keeps opening up new experiences and creating friends
In all sorts of places We only meant to do it for a year but hey what can you say it’s a benign addiction!!
