My area has all low applications- any suggestions

Great suggestions all around!
The title is too long, you cannot read the part about the dogs. Maybe change it to:
TWO SPANIELS In WEST AUCKLAND, CO. DURHAM, UK

It does, very very helpful, many thanks

Well, I love bearded dragons and they’re pretty easy to care for, so you might simply say that he can be booked into lizard care if the sitter prefers not to have him.

I think you’re wise to leave George out of the main listing, and maybe just discuss him during a call as “We also have a lizard, George, if you’re up for reptile care, but he’s just as happy with going to lizard care.” I don’t think you’ll miss too many sitters who are actively looking for a reptile to sit for.

Here’s the upside to others in the area also having low applicants: I guarantee someone wants to be there at that time. All you have to do is make your listing the best of all the options. You don’t have to outrun the bear.

Ways to sweeten the pot:

  • Transportation is always a consideration, as a car rental can be expensive. Can a sitter get by without a car? If not, could you lend yours? Even a bike, if public transportation is not within a 20-min walk or so.
  • Could you offer the services of a dog walker a couple times during the sit for that nice long morning walk? A 1-2 hour walk every morning is a pretty big commitment for some.
  • Agree with showing the photos of the village green, if it’s as gorgeous as HappyDeb is saying!

By the time I’ve got to reading your listing it looks like you’ve amended it in line with some of the suggestions. There are far too many pictures and you would do well to put pics of the dogs at the beginning.
As per usual you don’t mention how long the dogs can be left for once they’ve had their morning walk. I assume a few hours given that you mention so many places near and far that can be visited.
I can’t see if you’ve got any applicants by now as I’m ‘busy with another sit’ during your dates. I would certainly be interested in sitting for you at some stage though if the dates work out!

Aww thanks Diane, I love him - but this does seem to be an obstacle, so for now I’ve removed him from my profile.
Thank you

I’ve taken him out of the listing for now. I’ll book him into reptile care local
It does seem to be a barrier

Thanks you for your comments, we can’t offer a car as we will be using it ourselves. We have great walks from our door, public transport is excellent again buses from our door. So I can’t change that sadly,
We don’t use any dog walkers - my aim is to attract someone who does t mind walking them an hour a day.
Many thanks

Thanks for your comments.
How long the dogs can be left is all in the sitters responsibility that I entered yesterday. I will try putting it in numerous places,
Many thanks

@annepolet Information about how long the dogs can be left is in the Home-section, but I didn’t find it from Responsibilities.

There’s a box to tick when editing the listing, but that info is not available for anyone to see. You have to write it out.

I usually find the info on how long a pet can be alone in the respondibility-list, I think that would be where most expect to find it. For me it is vital information, and I usually move on rather than ask if the info is not there. Might seem unfair of course, but could be useful to know. As you have adjusted your listing with more info I must say I think it is attractive.

You may want to rephrase the Poo in Garden section of the Responsibilities. It reads as the dog poo is bagged and then put in the kitchen bin, which I’m pretty sure, wont be the case.
