New filter suggestions "Accessible by Public Transport"

Huge fan of THS! <3 After using THS for a couple times now, would love to hear our fellow sitters’ thoughts on new features ideas to improve the platform’s experience?

Personally, would love to have a search filter for “Accessible through public transport”. Since my partner and I don’t drive, would be really helpful to have a list of sits that are non-driver friendly. We’re currently plugging in every town on Google map to make sure they’re accessible.

I know there’s a filter for “sitter needs a car”, but I think it’s quite different.

Anyone has experienced similar situations?

Yes, I have been asking for this for a while. It takes forever to go through all the sits in the UK looking for ones that don’t need a car

Exactly  No sure if it’s a regional thing, perhaps everyone in the US owns a car. But in the UK I’m finding it hard to verify if the homes are accessible. Some owners are nice enough to share the closest train/bus station which is a life/time saver!

Would be superb if this could be an option for the filter!

Yes, that would be useful. I agree with all of that.

There’s an earlier thread on this topic, under Car needed?

I agree with your idea, but would also like to see ‘car not needed’ or ‘walkable neighbourhood’ (although ability to walk varies for everyone, I realize). It would make it so much easier to screen listings for suitability. I’m not going to try and convince a ‘car needed’ person that it may not be the case. I just skip over those listings now, even though I may miss out on what could have been a match.

We have a car in the US, but for overseas sits, we would only be able to apply for opportunities without a need for driving. We are more than happy to figure out the local trains/buses for shopping and dining. We also love walking, so HO descriptions regarding walk ability of each location, is most appreciated.

I could find no filter for “sitter needs a car”. Almost every sit I checked out, in the hundreds I scanned through, required a car. If only there was that filter, it would have saved me a whole afternoon and a blurred-vision headache!

Hello everyone, still new to this site, even though I sat using a different one.
What is the consensus out there about adding a new “filter” to narrow down the search to locate HOs who live close to public transit? I have found that you often really need to read the entire description before finding out whether a house is accessible by transit or not. As someone who may not necessarily want to rent a car or use the HO’s (the few that even allow you to do so), in my opinion narrowing down the results reflecting how convenient transit is would help immensely.
Thanks.

Welcome to the site. Yes that filter would be very useful and it has been asked for many times, here is a previous thread

@Ben-ProductManager A filter that could exclude sits that the homeowner has marked “sitters need a car” on would be EXTREMELY helpful for sitters without access to a car for sits. This should be easily accomplished using the yes/no value for whether that tag has been added to a sit.
The preference would be for the filter on the sitter side to say “no car needed” and when we choose that, it returns housesit results where “sitters need a car” is not selected.
