New listing. No applicants

Thank you, sharose. Where do I write all these things (what section) so a sitter will read it when looking for a sit?

You really need to do a search of sits and see how other people do it.

Do a sit search for Withee, WI.
Then you will see exactly what potential sitters are seeing. You will hopefully then see how to tweak/edit your listing from there….

The home and location section. This section exists to describe your home and location, and should include details about what’s to see & do in the area. You can also briefly mention some of these attractions (but not all, and not too detailed) in your introduction as a way to immediately show what’s on offer at your sit and why somebody should want to pick you.

Meanwhile, the responsibilities section exists purely to outline pet and house care tasks & information about the pets. Details about the local area should not be in this section. Hope that helps

It has nothing to do with the niceness of your home or your beautiful dogs who look like they would be great company.

For me as a sitter It pretty much all comes down to location and logistics (traveling to and from the sit location and during the sit itself)

As a sitter I would never apply for a rural/remote sit without access to public transport and where the HO essentially expects a sitter to provide use of their own vehicle (private of hire) in order to travel to HO’s home and then sustain myself whilst I’m there for the duration of the sit.

In addition, your requirement that your dogs are not left alone for more than two hours essentially means you either expect a sitter to transport your dogs with them in their own vehicle on outings etc or to not leave the vicinity of your property.

You’re probably only going to attract sitters who live locally and fancy a break to get away from it all or those new to THS needing to build their reviews.

You need to put yourself in the shoes of a potential sitter and ask yourself would you realistically take x number of days out of your schedule and drive x numbers miles to and from a stranger’s home to look after their animals.

You have ghost towns, barns , fall colors.

Hey, Dogagilityfan, I see your listing is at ‘reviewing applicants’, can you update us? It looks like you did a lot of great work on your listing.

Hi, Val. Sorry it took me so long to respond. Been really busy here. I wasn’t getting many applications here, so I took the advice from another member and checked out another site. I was able to get sitter! Yea! I didn’t know how to, I guess, cancel the request for this particular timeframe; so I put a hold on the applications. I do still hope to use THS in the future. This time around didn’t work out, but that’s okay. Everything in it’s own time. :slightly_smiling_face: Have a great day.
