‘New’ sits

Just to note @Carla that the issue @Twitcher just brought up is exactly what happened to me too, except my listing did show up in the search (several pages in). Thanks for sending these to the team!

Hi! I tried searching for similar questions but could not find anything.

We had a sitter confirmed for our vacation at the end of August. They had to cancel, so I reposted the dates. I tried deleting the dates as well and putting them as new (saving the listing in between). No matter what I do, the listing now sits at the bottom of almost all searches in our area and does not show up as “new”. I have a saved search for sits in our general area and I did not get a notification when I posted our sit as I usually do, so I doubt other sitters got it. I now feel a bit punished by THS for something out of my control - sorry for the rant!

What can I do to move the listing up on the main page?

Thank you in advance for your advice.

Welcome @sitting4fun have you asked member services for help ? Try a live chat :speech_balloon: and ask to speak to a human .

For search via location, you need to set the ‘sort by’ filter to ‘distance,’ instead of ‘newest’ or ‘start date’ in order for your listing to come up as one of the first, otherwise it will show you sits from all over the place within a certain distance of the location.

Thank you, they were able to help me on the chat by flagging the listing as new! I don’t know why that didn’t occur to me at first :upside_down_face: .
I’ll be leaving this forum post up for any other owners who find themselves in a similar situation. Also if anyone is interested in an easy cat sit in Czech Republic, I have linked my listing to my profile  .

I had the exact thing happen to us yesterday. The listing did not show the “new” tag so I had to go back and forth with support so they could make it happen.

The support person was nice enough but kept insisting that the system is working fine. I had to point out that if it was working fine, I wouldn’t be asking for help! LOL

@Jenny or any other admin: I did ask the support person to inquire with IT when this glitch will be fixed. Can you also send an internal note to the IT team that the “new” tag is not working automatically?

This issue has been ongoing for at least a few weeks. There is another thread about it. Very frustrating.

Any update on this please @Carla ?

Seems not all member services are aware of the issue six weeks on from when you sent them the information.

Is this the other thread ? Issue first reported to tech team & MS beginning of July .

Yes @Silversitters and I actually raised the issue with support on 9 June. They inferred it was the way I was using the filters and denied there was a problem. Eventually one of the moderators passed it to the technical department and we are no further forward. Perhaps @Carla could chase it up?

The newest sits filter is a total waste of time. I also sent examples of new sits that didn’t have the ‘new’ label. Although they were ‘new’ they went straight to low applications.

It is frustrating for sitters to keep seeing the same old listings and if I was a homeowner I would be unhappy if my listing went straight to low applications.

I quite agree @Twitcher. It is pointless using the ‘New’ filter. The same old listings just keep being at the top. As you say, I would not be happy as an owner with a new listing but, unfortunately, many would not realise their listing is not being exposed at the top of the list. Interestingly, this thread comes up as “This topic has been solved”!

Folks, don’t forget, THS is there to make money. Premiums will always be listed up top, whatever you filter/sort for :stuck_out_tongue:

They are not premium members and they are not last minute sits.

That’s not the case with what is happening in the listings @elmi4711.

@Jenny - could you please merge this thread with the ‘New’ Sits thread?

All done, thanks for the heads up

Well, if you’re sure of it, I might just have misunderstood.

@Carla @Jenny The new sits filter has not been working since at least June. I gave up trying to get an answer from support and I believe the issue is now with the tech team.

I decided to search for new sits Anywhere again today. No other filters applied such as dates, pets, duration etc.

I had to scroll through 64 listings before I came across one with a ‘New’ tag.
One old listing has been on the first page for weeks!

I am also convinced some genuine new listings are going straight to Low Applications.

The current system is not working for sitters or homeowners. It is so frustrating.

I feel the only way I can get the current system to work for me is by knowing where and when I want to sit. In the past I enjoyed looking through the new listings to see if anything took my fancy and if the dates didn’t work I marked them as favourites.

Don’t even get me started on the messaging system if I do come across a sit I am interested in :weary:
